Tokens can be delivered, traded, bazaared and AHed (did all four). Sold one of the retired Tokens for 100k on the AH the first night they where available, but generally I don't find it worthwhile my time, especially since I don't know the overall interest in them. The only time I ever saw a Token in a bazaar was when I had one in my own.
500g exchange is too few, one can make more via other ways.

The free races follow an eight races cycle, for Windurst it's:
SuperTrio, MeteorBrian, IncredibleLeg, StarOnion, NoSuper, StarOnion, NoSuper, NoSuper. Rince and repeat.
For the other towns the cycle is similar but instead of the first NoSuper there is another race against one Super (can't tell you the exact order, I normally don't race San d'Oria and Bastok).
So it's generally better to race in Windurst, since the base Chocobuck gain is two Chocobucks higher (28 in Windurst, 26 in Sandy and Basty, figuring that your Chocobo can always beat the NoSuper races, but not the Supers themselves).

And if they didn't change it, the Circuit standing is calculated on Tuesday (the day the Circuit got introduced).
ChocoToken's availability doesn't seem to be depending upon the current trend (dominant, etc), but rather overall standing (determined once a week). I can get 100 ChocoTokens when Windurst is leading the standing, no matter the current trend, I can't get 100 ChocoTokens when another stable is first but Windy is highest in the current trend.
A three way head lock might open up the plans for everybody.
And in my experience there is period on Tuesday (might even go on till Wednesday), where the current trend isn't given, like with conquest, there have to be a few wins or losses first.

That's odd. Sandy only has 2 no supers. It's the trio, then 1 of each, then 2 no supers, then back to start.

My problem with enfeebling items is 50% of the time they dont work and 50% of the time they hit the wrong person. When I used it in the dream race it hit the yellow bird because the white wasn't in the lead then. ~_~ I won the rest of the races just sticking it out, hoping to resist the enfeeble spam and final spurt/stamina apple. I like stamina because speed apple usually pushes you first (and you get hit with shitty items that way) while stamina makes you run fast near the end of the race when everyone is tired.

Now that you mention it, one of my LSmates once told me there was a pattern to these, I can't believe I competely forgot about what he said. In any case, just remembered at least one thing -- if there is a SuperChocobo it will be in lane #3.

Won Dream Race on 2nd try. As usual, Final Spurt and Stamina Apple pulled through.

Going to start a new chobi since my 8/8/1/1/canter is long retired and fails, couple questions:

    - How exactly do you raise a weather bird? Start in sandoria and walk in la theine only when rain weather is up? I've always done windurst and never had a weather preference. Also, would rain preference hurt its performance in clear weather races? Circuit etc.

    - 8/8/4/3/canter/gallop is the best racing build? Would it be better to start with mental stats then switch to physical, or stay physical then spam free runs for stat upgrades once it's an adult? I'm assuming the latter

A weather preference seems to always be paired with a specific dislike, which would be the disadvantage, so clear weather should probably be considered "neutral". That being said, I still can't say if it is inferior to "clear preference + clear weather" as while this is a match, the default clear preference doesn't seem to work quite the same way as a weather preference (ie, it is not necessarily paired with a dislike).

I have only ever raised chocobos in Windurst, but have previously raised a chocobo with a windy weather preference (which is common in Tahrongi). It is something of a guess if frequent walking in that weather resulted in the preference, but I have heard similar speculation from other breeders that this is how weather preferences are set.

I have raised chocobos both ways, and would recommend the latter. Raising Mental stats first required me to push hard to learn the 2nd ability, then reverse course to physical, and then reverse course again to re-up mental with chocobucks (by the time physical was near maximum, the mental traits had long since dropped to minimum).

The "best" racing build is up for speculation, as defense against items seems to have become more important since the changes in the last update. I have been considering raising another chocobo that trades off physical for more mental, but after six chocobos I really am not feeling up to it right now. Still not sure what Autoregen does, but apparently does have some function in racing.

Are there enough... stats points (name?) to do 8/8/4/3? I found a post somewhere saying how much each level was worth points-wise and the max number of points a bird could have in stats. Does anyone have those figures? I haven't been able to re-find the post where I read that.

I'm thinking I'll do 8/7/X/X, maxing the two Xs as much as the points permit.

For what it's worth (might not be much, since this is my first time doing it) I'm intending to get max STR and as high END as I can (aiming for 7), then switch to Digging for Treasure to raise DIS and hopefully learn Canter (chick was born with Gallop), and throw as many free training thingies at REC as I can. (I'm sitting on 1K chocobucks right now.)

With the change in items, I'm wondering if maybe I should do 7/7/X/X instead...

I wish I knew more. I hate gambling with months of time raising a bird.

I'm going to shoot myself. I'm an idiot.

Does anyone know if having the big tail/feet actually have an effect? Or is it just cosmetic?

My bird is a teen. Somehow I missed the 'carrying packages' option to raise both END and STR. I was alternating play in a group/play by itself to raise one and then the other.

Bird is 27 days old. It needs average STR/END by day 29 to get the big feet/tail. Both are a bit deficient. I doubt both will increase in the next two days.

I can't believe I made such a big mistake. 27 days of doing something I never wanted to do. I can make up the stats loss with chocobucks/training once its an adult, but if the feet/tail matter, I can do nothing about that.

How in the world did I miss that option...

I don't think anyone has solid data, but I personally believe the effect is more than cosmetic. However, I also am starting to suspect (unsupported speculation) that the effect may be to raise the maximum ceiling for STR/END, rather than add on a bonus.

I hope you're right. If that's the case, then it won't hurt me since I'm not going for max STR/END. Either way, I'm not raising another darned bird if this one doesn't come out right.

Or so I keep telling myself.

Just finished the Dream Race last night! It took me three tries to beat it.

It was odd to see that all three races had completely different outcomes for me. The first time I came in a distant second place using a stamina apple/final spurt, then third place using speed apple/final spurt, then first with stamina/final spurt again.

You really do just have to be lucky in the way things go during the race. Pashhow was raining with black clouds the time I beat it, which probably made a big difference. My bird doesn't have a rain preferance, but Sakura was not nearly as fast during the third race and I beat her even after I got hit with a fire biscuit.

My bird is black with 8/7/4/4 Gallop, Canter, large feet and feathers. It's my second chocobo that I built up to max, and I made sure to do a lot of research on it. Hope this helps anyone having trouble with the race, and good luck!

    some hope left for me?

i'm also interested in the pullus torque. it's been a while since i did the choco raising/racing thing. i messed up my retired choco's stats trying to cap them a while back. it's currently at outstanding str, outstanding end, average dis, average rec w/ gallop+canter. i'm assuming the best way to go is to try to push str up again to get something like 8/7/4/4 before attempting the Dueler's Race and so on? i'm afraid to attempt the first race with as is but my current racing team is sandy and i'll need to switch to get those 100 point items right...

edit: woot-pwned the sheep. used final spurt with a fire biscuit.

Thanks. I've been wavering beteeen 8/7/4/4 and 7/7/X/X (X being 4 or 5, I wasn't sure which mental to raise up one level).

My bird turned adult yesterday, which meant I could finally spend the 1K chocobucks I had saved. Those, plus 240 more I made the same day = END is almost done (6). One more level of that, then DIS through chocobucks as well. (It's possible I'd have time to work on END and DIS through overnight training, but I don't want to chance it -- plus I want my bird finished ASAP.) STR and REC I'm doing through the care plans.

Birdy was born knowing Gallop, so I'll just need Canter and then I can race!

Wait, do you get 22 or 23 points to distribute?

I always remember being told 22.

I've only seen it mentioned one place (wiki forums?), and in that case it said "22-24". I'm really hoping it's 23 or 24 and not 22.

If it is 22, I guess I'll let STR drop to 7 then. :/

It's the NPC furthest middle south at the counter. He gives you one for free even if you have no trophies (like me) and just want to put other crap on it.

Technically, the most you can have is 24. However, there are only exactly enough points to register 24 levels. So unless you can perfectly raise your chocobo, 23 is more likely.

Question, what exactly do Discernment and Receptivity do for racing? I think that I heard that Receptivity involves resisting enfeebling items, and Discernment affects when items are used. (Or vice-versa.) Is item timing that important? What about pumping up resistance to enfeebling items to the max instead? (Or is it just not possible in the time available if you have to learn abilities?)
