Yeah, it can be raised once again, when it falls (no ifs about it), but it seems Chocobuck inefficient.
If one brings Str and End up first and does care plan raising of Dis then, depending how high you got End, your Chocobo will turn SS/(A-C)/C/F. Which in the end requires a lot less chocobucks overall to get Rec up (there is even some little leeway to get Dis and End a further boost). The only draw back is that it takes longer, but it's manageable within the 64 days to raise the stats to that..
For me, that's a big issue. I do not enjoy raising birds, I just want a "super" racer (8/7/4/4) and to win and to be done with it. Okay, so I can toss it at C1 races now and then, but I don't want to spend another month or more dealing with raising it. I hate free races, but at least they let me get this over with sooner.
Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad if you could have it run for you. Mashing enter every five minutes gets old. It'd be great to set up something automatically, go to bed, and then wake up with a bunch of chocobucks.
Obviously we're all overachievers and should just settle with average birds!
At least, unlike so much else on the game, you can do other stuff while racing. I just found a new TV series I love (Avatar) and in three days of racing I've caught up on two and a half seasons!
Unfortunately the series is only three seasons long, so I'll run out long before I finish racing.![]()
Today my chocobo had the 'good time for physical training' messages. 'Full of energy' and 'really receptive to physical training' (don't recall the exact wording of them). I was hoping that would apply to chocobuck training as well, but it seems not to (or does only a tiny bit).
Usually it would take 6 80 chocobucks trainings to raise a stat one level. I had time to make the bucks for 5 trainings today, and it did not raise. I was hoping the positive state would make every training thing be twice as effective, so he'd level up with 3 trainings, but nope. Apparently not even close to that.
I did have a fun thing happen this morning though: Checked my stats, did a long walk, checked them again. STR had leveled up. Did nothing else other than the walk. I know others have seen that, but it was the first time I had.
Just in case anyone is still wondering...
Actual weather in Pashhow has NO effect on the weather for the races. Just tested it for my wife, who is having a hellava time beating the Cactuar.
Just thought I'd throw it out there.
can people who have beaten the dream race post their choco stats, race orders, and item used when they won? i lost 4 times with 7/7/4/4 final spurt using various items (speed, stamina, pepper) and a 5th time after upgrading str twice to reach 8/7/4/4 and using stamina apple. i'm assuming i could/should try and cap out str?
I did it with 8/8/4/2, speed apple and final spurt.
But that was on the fifth try with using other combinations before that. Seems to come down to luck.
My bird is 8/7/4/4, and I used a stamina apple/Final Spurt.
I beat it on my third or fourth try. It was a thunderstorm at the time, and Sakura was just not a challenge for some reason. I even got hit with a fire biscuit but managed to come out way ahead. It's all very weird, and just comes down to luck.
It's been a long time since I last raised a chocobo, so would someone confirm this for me? An ability can be learned at any time while it's an adult, right? There's a better chance when it's older ("now's the time to teach abilities!" or whatever), but it's perfectly possible to learn one before then?
I'm trying to teach by bird Canter. DIS is average. I've read the Curious story 96 times now, and it's not learned it yet. It only knows one ability right now (Gallop, born with it).
Huh... If it's not coincidence, then it's very cool. (For everyone else: my bird is the son of Guppy's HitenMiss crossed with my first racer.)
I'm worried that with all these story readings, DIS will be bumped up a level.
Since REC still needs two more levels, I might just wait for a lightbulb day or however long it takes to get to 'now's a good time for ability teaching!'.
By the way, Nai got a red bird from one of your cards I gave her. :D She's raising it as a digger/general riding bird.
Coming back from a few months away from FFXI and I was wanting to start in raising my own racing bird to try for this torque. For those raising/have raised new birds recently, how much of an impact do carrots as a steady diet effect stat gains, enough to matter in the end or are most simply skipping them? If so, in favor of what?
