    That's awesome :D

Ontopic: Imo this is a very good update but (didnt see this one coming) not introducing a new avatar after seeing Ixion is kind of a slap in the face. But they said we're getting atleast two new avatars so I guess I'll wait a little longer ^^

While most discovered things so far seem rather positive to me, I am really disappointed that Ixion's drops and the Hachiryu Set are only Ra and not Ra/Ex. Really lowers their value in terms of an accomplishment to me since everyone will be able to buy them soon with those high drop rates and some groups will probably keep killing Ixion only for the money they can make of it which I personally don't like.

I'd love to have everyone who says how great the new system about NMs is to post into this thread in 1 month from now on and tell me that they still enjoy the wonderful retarded walking around to take pictures. :3

You are all going to hate it. Soon, very soon.

Well this update brought me back to the game, so it's definitely a good update to me.

The only things I'm not a huge fan of are some of the changes they made to Campaign and the Campaign Ops.

You need 18k points to pop a single T4 NM. That's an average of 1k point per person per 18men linkshell. Seriously...20min per fight per linkshell is asking too much?

Yeah, I mean, proactively being able to guarantee a pop/claim/fight sucks.

    What were we thinking?

While I dont dislike the system, I would disagree with equating 18 people getting 1k each to the actuality of 3-4 people getting most of the points on their own. Even with alot of coordination, you can still only turn in 10 plates per day, so its not like everyone in the LS can take pictures and hand it to one person to turn in. If you are really organized, you can have people store points for specific tiers and hand off pops to the next person and cut down on just how much farming you have to do. But the basic premis is: Repeative bullshit is repetitive.

Ya ya, I enjoy pop NMs and not fighting for claim, but this ZNM point system is boring as fuck and will increase in the bullshit factor exponentially as people lose the new factor on it.

Taking an hour or 2 every day to take a picture of a mob gets old fast. Your not fighting something new there, your not being innovative, its just another time killer plain and simple.

Now dont get me wrong, I love the update, but I am a bit worried with the way they setup the Zeni system and keeping players interested in a tediously boring point procurement process(regardless of how much better it may be than waiting for claim).

Also, not having 100% drop on Pandemonium pop items is fucking stupid.

This is exactly my worry too, which i believe would be lowered a lot if you didn't have to go back to T1 all the time. This, with time, is gonna be pretty hard to keep up. Think about it, this needs people from a rather big LS (i consider anything over 8 people big, i guess i'm spoiled by Salvage) to act in coordination. Think about most events that need a lot of people. Ground kings? You just wait till your LS bot/bots claim while you afk between windows. Just be there. Dynamis? No need to get involved, you arrive there and let the leaders do everything while you hack away the mobs you are told to kill. Limbus? Same deal, except you need to keep your money up, but this can be done relatively easily without the need for people to be coordinated. Sky? Same deal, just be there. Einhenjar? Remember the huge problems people complained about because some people had to skip runs and that would break the flow? It was fixed, now it's similar to the rest of the events. Only Salvage is similar to this in the need of personal grind, but salvage can work from start to finish with 6 people. Unlike this system, aparently.

So when the novelty factor is off, this is gonna be a huge grind that is going to be shared by many people, meaning it could eventualy be very hard to keep people's interest up.

This is primarily the reason i was hoping this to be a low man event, like Salvage now is. There's no discusion that Salvage is a successful event, that the drop rate blows and that it has a big grind factor tied to assault points (well, spaming RvB is rather fast and easy, but let's just keep the idea), but it's also an event that needs few people and as such an event that's easy enough to keep up running.

So i remain in a position where i'm interested to see how the future for this event will actualy hold.

Re: 1 week impressions of the patch

I really enjoy the Fellowship stuff. Missions were very well written but way too fucking short. Einherjar changes are beyond fucking awesome. New merits are whatever since every good merit camp is packed. Sandworm was kind of fun. Haven't seen Ixion yet, but free-spawn NMs are lame in general and having to kill Pixies for a drop is Ultra-Megazord lame.

Campaign is dead to me. I do not plan on going to a WotG area until the next set of (3) missions. And this is coming from someone who had Brass Wings of Service § within minutes of being able to get into the game this last patch. I campaigned the majority of Atum's BLU from 65 to 75, I don't want to be fucking bothered anymore. This suggests that they are doing something massively wrong.

ZNM is a mixed bag for me. On the one hand it is nice to do stuff without having to deal with people botting the living shit out of it, but on the other hand I fucking hate Pankration. Let me repeat that since people in this thread are busy bandwagoning like usual. (Hey, remember that time that everyone bandwagoned that they hated otherwiki, then never bothered to work on BG Wiki? I do too!) I despise Pankration, I think it is the second most useless thing added to this game after fish ranking. You know how many Pokemon games I own? Zero. If I wanted to play Pokemon why would I play FFXI? As a result, getting Jettons so that I can get Zeni is complete and utter fail-sauce to me. The old man is a doucebag as well. "Hey, trek across the globe and nearly get killed to get me some pictures. Oh well, I changed my mind, here's 27 points for it." They could have made things a lot better if you got assignments for photos that lasted a certain amount of time so that you don't get fucked over like that. (Heaven forbid.) Or how about being able to get Zeni through Fellow Points or Chocobo Points? Egad! People being able to chose their own hobby to do something useful! Preposterous!

Nyzul Weapons, the jury is out on that. If they require 50,000 Alexandrites then they are harder to obtain than Dynamis Relics while being significantly less powerful. Until that is shown one way or the other (at least I have not read it yet), I reserve my judgment.

Yeah. That actually is my biggest complaint. Why bother doing something challenging? I mean, we just want stuff. We don't want to actually do something challenging and fun afterall. All it takes is time and hardly any effort. It's all about .dats. Not effort. Not skill. Not fun. I guess a sense of accomplishment is beyond the comprehension of the vast majority of players looking at these post. Yeah, I'm one of those jaded endgamers. So feel free to tell me what an idiot I am, and that I should go camp fafnir some more.
Sounds like instead of feeling as if you're shooting yourself in the face camping HNM's, you're now shooting yourself in the foot and people are rejoicing. You guys have been abused for far too long

A mmorpg endgame will always involve some grinding. It's not good for anyone if you're done with the content after 2 days. Farming 18k by yourself in 2 days is obviously tedious, but when we teleport around with a party of 6 people and optimize our farming, it's not worse than previous system. I can even make it inbetween event, when I would normally stare at moogle¸.

Also, you need to keep in mind that anyone can lot on other people pop items. If 18people farm 1000 zeni per day (~12 plates turned over 2 consecutive ingame days), everyone will be able to pop Tier 1-2-3 on the 6th day, and you will have 6 Tier 4 pop items. With an average of 2h per week for 18 people, I would barely call it grinding.

Of course, I know it's the same 5 people who will farm for everyone, but the system still allow a good linkshell to do progress quickly and pop a lot of the higher nm.

He doesnt change that often. Was kinda annoying on the first days when everyone spammed him, but most mobs stay on for 4-5hours. Soulflayers was on for at least 9 hours earlier.

Yeah, is that not a valid complaint? I'd much rather it be something challenging to actually do than "go take some pictures."

Running retarded places for no reason for ENM sucks too.
you want some chalange for ZNM: just old your king at 1% while youre whole ally full inventory with pic of it (any king pic may give more zeni than the interset of old man)

And the challange part is not "how to popthe monster" but the monster himself (i see absolutly no challange/fun/satisfaction in /sit in DA waiting for the botclaim)

Re: 1 week impressions of the patch

I think the ZNM system is very nice but it’s going to die too fast unless the Pandemonium Warden drops or facilitates something godly. It would be nice if you beat the Warden that it granted you permanent seals for example. Saying that, so far we’re 0/3 on the Puk that doesn’t like SMNs and personally I’m 0/3 on anything dropping aside from the seal items. But I’ve seen plenty drop for others.

I think peeps will in waves become fascinated with ZNMs for certain items, we’ll have a mad flurry, prolly try for the top tier then forget about it for a while. So just like Sky but with some great drops. Already I can tell you who will bother with this event in my Shell and who won’t. Still, it’s an improvement and a straightforward and fairer way to get some gear.

I don’t mind Pankration. It’s fairly painless. I had to retire Combat Mountain (my buffalo ) because he’s too uber to get decent points. So I created a new mob based on Roc which was crap (WHM/BRD ftl) and then tele’d to Xarc from the Pit, snapped the first mob I saw (ahriman) and his ghetto DRK (WAR/BLM) is now pwning the under 10 levels for good points.

I think the new gear they’ve implemented is fantastic on the whole and well spread out.

I’m excited by the Sandworm stuff, even though I think it’s going to be a while before we see or even claim one, I know quite a few people would love to do it. The Lambton worm stuff is great.

Dark Ixion looks great but I think it’s going to get monopolised for quite a while. So for medium sized shells who probably could kill him but don’t have the manpower to camp 24/7 it might be a while before they get a shot. It’s both good and bad that his drops aren’t exclusive. I suspect it’ll get a lot easier to claim him in a while. Absolutely hate that you have to kill pixies for him though.

The Fellow stuff only vaguely interests me because I took a while to get interested in my NPC and he’s only 48. So I use him occasionally and will probably continue along the same lines.

I like the mission cutscenes so far but I’m a bit disappointed at how few missions there were to complete. I haven’t finished the old list of Campaign Ops yet so more are just added to the list.

The Nomad moogles are nice if you’re trading in Homam/Nashira pieces after a good run and for low level xp. Autosort is absolute win.

New merit ranks to Group 2 are fine and make some things godly but I’m suffering a bit from ‘OMG I have *how many* merits to get?’ However, I’m nearly recapped on WHM. Everything else will just pootle along until I can get around to it. I still have more merits than sense.

I like the way they’ve started with Nyzul Relics, but like a lot of people, if it involves Alexandrite and no other sources appear, I’ll run screaming.

Reprisal seems nice, our token MNK is recovering from being hit by a drunk driver IRL so I can’t talk about footwork stuff and I love Pianissimo. So far it’s mostly gotten used on BLUs

Einherjar changes look to me to be the biggest win to be honest. It makes it viable for us, a mid-sized shell to at least farm for ampoules. Whether we have the manpower for tier III I don’t know yet, but at least this way we’ll get to find out! Some of my DDs dreaming of Adaberks as we speak.

I kind of wanted to make a side thread, but I sort of want to address Septimus directly as well. What if instead of this pankration stuff where you take pictures of shit, it worked under a system like the monster arena from FFX? Basically you go and kill every monster in a zone with a specific weapon, doing this "Captures it", then you go back to let's say this oldman guy and he pretty much breeds them into one monster and that's when you fight it. Capture all the pokemon in all zones and he'll breed those, and then he'll start breeding his new breeds into higher tiered ZNMs. It's pretty much just the same thing since most people take mobs down to 1% before taking a picture, it's just with less gay 10 trades a day thing.

I agree w/ this post, the whole taking 10 pictures is going to become exponential when you have to farm Tier 1-3 repeatedly for a Tier 4 drop that just won't appear. Give us some shitty weapon w/ DMG: 1 Delay: 999 that we have to finish off the mob with in order to capture it and make us capture multiple mobs, at least then we get some exp for wasting our time. Also I went out to capture some Lamia's on my Camera today, get to camp pull one and work it down to 1%. I then proceed to take 5/12 pictures when 7 fails. Thats pretty stupid when you fail 7 out of 12 times.... I think people said it before but after a week or two everyone who was having so much fun taking pictures is going to be banging their head against their desk.

Re: 1 week impressions of the patch

Man, time flies, a week already!?

    Impressions

Ixion / Sandworm: don't interest me because at this point, LS will not be making an effort to fight either of them, and if they did, we'd probably not have claim like usual, pointless.

ZNM: I like, though again, no interest from friends / LS support, and I'm not exactly going to shout for ZNM help so people will complain that I used them for beating a mob for my drop.

Only 2 things I hate about em are lack of 100% pandy drops, and lack of 100% loot drops. My luck sucks, so I'm pretty sure that I'll be 0/15+ on Vulpangue when I finally get the chance to fight him, or any other mob.

    Missions: refuse to do until chocobo's are available in the past. I'm a lazy bast when it comes to walking in those areas -.-;

NPC's = don't care, WoTG access is bonus however.

Einherjar - See Ixion/Sandworm, minus claim issues.

Nyzul Relics - Interesting, but now my hopes for having the possibility for getting BLU relic is dashed, and it was when Nyzul Isle x2 was initial requirement. Props to those who invest the time, but no thanks for me. Shiva's Shotel will be my BLU relic equivalent...

King Spell Nerf: Never claim em but once in a blue moon anyhow, so I guess it's a bad thing? (Don't really get to fight kings as often as I should.)

In short, I know I'll get "your emo" or some QQ nonsense, but the update is nice for those who have active, -winning- linkshells, and/or gil to bribe drops out of people with. I don't fall under that category.

    Well, you called it: QQ

Maybe you don't realize how easy ZNM can be without a "winning" linkshell (IE. 4-5 friends, or even shout pt!). Plenty of the lower tier items are pretty unique / nice for the effort put in.
