Interesting this came up in the thread, because recently James Watson, aka Co-discoverer of the structure of DNA said this:

He says that he is "inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours--whereas all the testing says not really," and I know that this "hot potato" is going to be difficult to address. His hope is that everyone is equal, but he counters that "people who have to deal with black employees find this not true." ... He writes that "there is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically. How much of this "inferiority" in intelligence is a result of our society being predominantly white and not sensitive to underprivileged minorities who without a doubt have to make reaches to accommodate the white person in their workplace instead of the other way around. Also, who is to say intellectual capacities are greater or smaller from one race to another, that's pure ignorance even for a landmark geneticist to imply... I find it hard to believe the 3000 or so years that some parts of the world developed slightly past the other parts gave rise to a large increase in intellectual capacities. If anything it's simply a world catered to a certain demographic, more sociology as opposed genetic makeup.

Meteor man is an amazing movie. I was looking for the dvd at circuit city one day, and it was in the Western section, dumb-luck that I found it. best birthday present for my best friend (aka black friend) ever.
