Your dad should beat you for not playing through legend of dragoon, loved that game.

I don't see why people bust nut over that game, it's fucking clunky as hell, the dialogue (from the little bit that I played and a bit more that I watched my brother-in-law play) sucked.
Battle system seemed kind of cool, but something like that would have been cooler if it wasn't turn based imo.
It's already been mentioned twice (both on the first page, 1 time was the first reply to the thread) but personally I loved Vagrant Story. Interesting system where as you build skill with 1 weapon, you lose skill in all other weapons. Many bosses have 1 specific weakness as well (only weak to 1 weapon type) so it can easily happen that you walk into a boss battle with the complete wrong weapon equipped. However, if you're good at timing and comboing your moves, you can still win even with all your hits doing 1 damage.
From what I remember, the difficulty seemed just right. Some frustrating moments, but never does it feel like a grind. I've been itching to play the game again for a long time, but I'm not exactly sure where I put it. D:
Hoshigami. Plays like FF Tactics, good story, bit of a weird system to get items off enemies but fun.
I'm not sure why myself. Very few people like Hoshigami.
Well later on bosses can take 2-3(a certain wingly comes to mind..) turns per round as opposed to your one turn per round(with 2 people still not up to bat so to speak). So the challenge is there if you feel turn based makes the game easy. Gameplay wise the one true downfall was the xp/gold/time ratio. It's so low that you will literally spend HOURS trying to get one lvl, as well getting gold. Broken items like Legend Casque and Phantom Sheild are 30,000 total. Put those two on Rose and you will never lose. That's about 3-4 RL hours just trying to get enough gold.Originally Posted by Charismatic

if you want to laugh at a game while simultaneously gouging your eyes out from crappy game play then "Beyond the Beyond" is the game for you
Sadly, I played through Beyond the Beyond.
Yes.
I beat the entire shitty game.
It was sitting around my house for years I'd played up till the point where Samson got cursed several times, I think I even got all the way up that tower on one of the playthroughs.
I eventually got tired of not being able to say I beat all the games that I had around the house (no my dad didn't buy that one) so I started a new game and played through it.
Now, I'm definitely one to bash that game every chance I get as well... but honestly after you get to a certain point in the game, either you (I) get (got) used to the game's suck, or it picks up... I can't say which it is (was).
But the 2nd half of the game sure felt a lot more enjoyable than the first.
Also, your characters get pimp as fuck when you class change.
I dont remember much about Hoshigami aside from the crappy battle system, freaking hard battles, and some sort of gay coin system, with a super cliche story. I played a few hours, and all that you could do was level grind to beat stages. Horrible, horrible, fucking horrible.
I wonder how long your avatar is going to last... someone's bound to complain about it.
Battle system was great, graphics were gorgeous for its time.
Dialogue read like it was translated by an dyslexic Japanese fourth-grader with Down's Syndrome who learned English from reading the intro to Zero Wing.
Yeah, the game had its decent qualities, but I wasn't a big fan overall.
KING'S FIELD
Spoiler: show
I liked the second King's Field. I guess I sold them or something as I no longer have them. :/
Brave Fencer Musashi
That is all.
Just picked up an old copy of Front Mission 3 for shits and giggles. I completely forgot about how you can hijack other people's Wanzers if you get them to eject.
