I've yet to meet a Summoner like the one I've described, so I wouldn't dare say that its a commonplace scenario. Just saying, its extremely plausible.

easy solution is to make your own pts/only accept pt invite when you know the leader/know the setup is not made of fail

It's because most smns like myself (329 smn, relic+1, AF+1, fully merited including 8smn magic merits and 8/8mp) have other jobs they'd rather merit with. You're right though, I can EASILY main heal a PT while keeping smn buffs and debuffs on. Only problem I have is the mamool camps, but I can still rock them.
