New PLD app right now in my Dynamis shell. Not meleeing at all, just tanking adds in this gear. I don't even know what to say.

I have all my AF, however the build above allows me to parse at least 16% or so of total party damage, and I rarely ever lose hate, the damage I deal, while not on par to an actual DD, supplements to my cures and hate holding JA's. And there is only a ~12 DEF difference in comparison to my full DEF build.

I would say that I had some of my gear in a NPC storer, and an earring with VIT+1 with no bard around is kind of worthless to a 75pld. But don't worry I'll have my Ethereal in a couple days and then you don't have to worry anymore. ^^

I wasn't even saying to wear the brd earring. But to come to Dynamis in a DD setup when you aren't a DD or even meleeing is ridiculous sorry. Nothing against you personally but it seems pretty silly.

And apologies to the linkshell in general. I'm in social with a few of them and they seem like a good group of people. Shouldn't generalize I guess so that's my bad. Just figured being a gear-whore went out of style a few years ago.

Personaly if you want to DD hybrid tank on PLD for exp then id make the following changes ( remembering your 63 )

Weapon: Is fine, upgrade at 65 to chainsaw+1
Ears: Switch one earring to Buckler
Hands: I would use AF hands over the other, 2 Emnity and a lil acc from the DEX
Rings: Sell the ecphoria ring & venerer ring, get either 2 Woodsman, or 1 Woodsman & a Mermaid's Ring
Back: Change to High Breath Mantle
Legs: Switch to AF legs, they are a lot better with 2 Emnity, and a little AGI for shield block rate

Food (if not on Birds) hope your using Dorado Sushi for the Hybrid DD setup, without it unless your on T or low VTs your acc will be craptastic.

Don't try to over think the hybrid thing. Adding attack and Str in slots and losing a chunk of emnity will up your damage slightly, but the loss of the Emnity will ruin your hate line. Typically the people that can get away with PLD DD in exp are people on thier 4-5th 75, and have the Gil to buy some of the items you dont really have access to when your just starting out. Your also going to lose out on learning out to control hate with your typical PLD hate tools if you do 75 levels on DD PLD setup.

I think at your lvl my PLD setup was:
Wep: Gluttony Sword
Shield: Wivre Shield
Head: AF
Neck: Peacock Charm & Parade
Ear1: Buckler
Ear2: Assault Earring
Body: Hauby+1 (Swap to Royal Cloak on most mobs for Refresh )
Hands: AF
Ring1: Mermaid's Ring
Ring2: WoodsMan (got Rajas form CoP)
Back: High Breath
Waist: Speed Belt
Legs: AF
Feet: AF

Just a general FFXI trend, trying to be a little of everything on a job usualy pales in comparasion to doing one thing really well on a job.

Showing up halfassed geared to Dynamis is downright insulting to your shell members. Seriously what excuse do you even have for not even wearing any hand armor? You're not in campaign so don't gear youself like it.

Not even going to comment on the ammo/shield slots.

Listen to what Darkmoon is trying to suggest. What you have is ok for the most part but I would seriously give focus to learning how to really manage hate control. Maybe create a Macro swap set like I did on PLD and swap into a Haub/Acc Gear for WSs like Vorpal Blade and macro myself back into AF for hate control.

+1 Vitality would probably do more than that whopping +3 evasion you're sporting. Why you would even equip that (with a Haubergeon, no less) on paladin is beyond me. Might want to get a Buckler to go with that ethereal since you didn't even have Gallant Leggings. Why would you attend a dynamis run without at least full artifact, it's a lot better than anything you have on.

That's the correct advice. I'm 63 PLD as well at the moment(erm wait I lied, like 250 to 63 because my last party let me die then immediately disbanded), I use 3 sets, a full on Enmity set for voke/flash/etc., a TP set, and a WS set(basically same as TP set but with a few changes). While the hybrid style of PLD is fantastic and fun, hate control is always the most important, Darkmoon did give good suggestions.

Late to the party but whatever. When I was leveling Monk, I was borrowing my wifes HQ Amemet, until suddenly she needed it and I had nothing else. Unfortunately, I didn't have much cash on me, so I ended up grabbing an NQ. I felt like crap, and seriously didn't EXP for 2 days because of how bad I felt it looked. I spent some time farming and easily came up with the cash for it. In this current market, farming can be a bit of a pain, but there are some very easy moneymakers, a few have been mentioned here.

Is NQ amemet gimp? Yes. If you understand that it is a gimpy thing and are actively working towards it, good. But if you outright don't care, gtfo. HQ Amemet to Foragers is a bit of a jump for the price, so I doubt anyone would climb all over you for not having one, but at least do yourself the favor if you're one of the many jobs that can actually equip it and get an Amemet+1. +1 STR and 5 attack are actually a lot.

I really need to rebuild those macro sets on my PLD since I reformatted by HD. I used to swap in 4/5 Heca for Swift Blade, Savage Blade & Vorpal Blade. I loved doing good #s on WSs with PLD.

P.S. I still don't own a Forager's Mantle yet. I own a Cerberus and an Amemet+1 but I'm not gonna spend the gil *yet at least* for that +1 STR. I'm not excatly dying for it since I don't see anyone going omgnoF-mantleyousucklololol!!111oneone yet.

To that PLD in Dynamis. Don't be a retard and make your mages work harder to keep your ass alive because you wanna fuck off on gearing yourself up properly.

I couldn't bitch about it being free after killing a mess of cerberus' for an Algol and much later a mantle. I'm more concerned on my mage jobs atm and right now RDM and SMN are my main focus.
