Late to the party, but to Shonin:

You seem like someone who's interested in bettering his jobs, but feels he doesn't have the ability to. I can understand that, but like other people have said you're not the type of player these threads target.

As for picking another job to level, EVERY job will require multiple sets of gear for you to change around in order to play it right. Some only need a fair minimum (my SMN only has like 5) and others will have tons (my DRK has like 14, and my RDM friend uses somewhere around 20). In general, if you aren't blinking like a Christmas tree, you're doing it wrong. No job in today's understanding of the game will perform as well as it should using one gear set for everything without ever changing.

Guy had Smn leveled, leveled an/some melee jobs, neglected Smn, and then LS needs some more healing in a pinch/prefers Smn damage for things?

Could explain the Tiamat at least, Ixion gets pwnified by melees though, but hey.

I mean, if I had say, bard leveled, I wouldn't have any gear for it that couldn't be used on War, so if I showed up somewhere, I'd be fulltiming heca harness/rune chopper, and singing my heart out, cause lolinstruments.

Course, I'd be trying to discourage the asking me to come on Bard stuff... >.>.

Other than the Martial Axe, can someone provide me with some upgrade tips, keeping in mind that I don't have a linkshell at the moment?

Your gear isn't that bad- use ANYTHING else in the off hand. The reason martial is so bad is:

A) TP bonus only applies to main hand for WS
B) Rampage gets no real benefit from 200% tp- base damage is more important.

Use another tabarzin or Iron Ram pick, maneater, woodvilles, pretty much anything with a higher base damage. After that, just upgrade as available . Newbie section is a good place to post for more gear stuff.

Ps. Str rings are for WS only, get acc rings if you can.

A few upgrades:
Amemet +1
Chivalrous Chain (neck)
Sniper's or Woodsman Rings (fingers)
Potent Belt (waist)
Probably an Assault Earring at some point
Not really sure on weapons, no clue what's good for Axes or whatnot.

That should keep you busy for a while.

Maybe I should just do BLU then ? I don't think I'd exactly be willing to have an enmity, ichi recast, shield skill, idle, tp, and ws gear set, and no matter how much I like the job I wouldn't want to gimp it. Plus I have the whole summer to level blu. And with that, I'm done derailing the thread.

If you don't really want to carry multiple gear sets, BLU isn't the job for you either. Given, I go a tad bit overboard on my gear sets, with 1 for TP, Full Haste, Macc, INT+, MND+, CHR+, Enmity+, HP, WS, STR spells and end up with about 67 slots filled when I go out without doing just one specific thing.

Paladin really won't be a huge issue at first as you'll only really have a few gear sets when you start doing sky and the like, and accumulate the other gear as time goes on. Just make sure that main set you use is as good as you can get, and constantly work on making your gear better.

I've always had/seen RDM/BLMs to help sleepga, idk bout your server but most LS's don't have too many BLMs(hi2umanaburn ) and if they do have BLM lv'd they'll moan about wanting to be on a different job. Therefor RDM/BLM to ensure mobs are slept is my vote.

Yea well, RDMs, WHMs, melees, etc aren't super nukers and it's hard to win cities with low # of BLMs >_>.

It's for sleepga and while it does help, /WHM would be better because it's more healing power, more na's and easier to help the healers keep the BLMs alive. They shouldn't have to use curaga's, paralyna's, silena's. They should ONLY be blasting and sleeping shit.

As for the RDM in question, NQ Dark Staff, good luck landing sleep?

As if evasion does anything for RDM outside of melee. Not gonna jump on the sub, it's obviously for warp and nothing else. Mild props for not FTing the turban and sticking with the hat. And MAYBE I should be ok with the dark staff since I've seen far worse(RDMs with none at all).
