Why do PLDs tank with Askar Head, can someone explain that?
Turban is better and there's no excuse for not having one.

Also, besides bibiki seashell what's exactly wrong (assuming he macros his earrings, etc)?
(Can't really see the sword icon well, but it looks gold colored, can't see if it's haut or justice, if it's the latter, then he can choke on a dick)

I understand why the gear is gimp, there's no excuse for that, but I don't understand why the subjob is gimp. Maybe it's just because I haven't played in over a year, but why is it wrong for a DD to want to be able to cure any damage he takes from AOEs? If this was a merit party, I'd understand your disappointment, but it's Fafhogg.

as i said from OP this sj is something we stoped seeing 05 maybe 06... fafnir is a joke now...and regardless if you plan to do the whole /mage thing for fafhog /dnc would be a noticeable upgrade considering, aside from teleports you have everything including erase(for any status) and as a sam you will pretty much never have issues keeping up with the dmg you take between reg hits and med. since dnc cures come from their tp, no mp required /whm is just lol now..

Nothing, but most of the time when you actually see people wearing them, it's not just for macro'ing.

Also, if that's a cure macro, where is the enmity in his neck, waist, and ear1 slot? You'd think if he was bothered enough to macro in that earring he could at least swap in a Warwolf/trance belt, hades earring, and harmonia's torque.

i think you are giving people too much credit sadly.. ive never seen that earring on a pld when not full time, then again if they are using it in macro you wont see it in use

Seconded. I macro that plus Enmity into my cures, but I've never seen anyone wearing it and not using it full-time.

Not so oddly enough I guess, the PLDs that I see using it also tend to forget that they can cure. >.>

Looks like he's trying to make a /nin build work while /war. Seashell, earring, helm and shoes could all be changed to something better. Lamian kaman(+1), buckler or hades earring, turban/b.mask/valor/IR/assjammer and AF(+1) boots would all be an improvement while /war.

Considering nq behe is a complete joke, and KB is a kited fight. Why would you use AF+1 feet over askar. You're going to be kiting, not facing him to use your shield. I'd take the enmity and -dmg over 12 shield skill on KB, any pld in the right mind would, and if it's NQ who cares really lol.

edit; not to mention the +30mp on askar that can be used for self curing, or a free flash before you put all that -mp gear on to boost your hp for the self cure >.>...

Though: I've actually kited things backwards in first person, namely Despot when a tank went down and I was just trying to stay alive, and it's a technique I use a lot in Campaign to build Tp when mobs pull some OG bullshit out of their ass.

To be honest, I don't really understand why people are so against Adaman body (or even legs). For the most part, it's a matter of preference between 15/20HP or +1 enmity. Neither are a "wrong" choice, IMO, if used correctly.

The whole "oooh Adaman is so nub" craze reminds me of the "lolwisegear" bandwagon (yeah, there can be use for pieces of Wise gear, too).

Has nothing to do with the gear itself, as like you said it's basically the Wise set of PLD...it's just that shitty PLDs generally wear it, the same way shitty RDMs will enfeeble in Chasuble, etc, so that when you go around wearing it the general assumption someone makes when seeing you in it is "Meh, shitty/mediocre PLD".

While I've seen plenty of good PLDs in Adaman body(actually one of our backup PLDs has some cringe-worthy gear, but he does a damn good job), I don't typically see Gallant+1 PLDs in level 54 nq VIT rings and Durandals, while I do see Adaman PLDs almost constantly in things like that.

Yeah was pretty much basing it on Body/Legs. I don't know the Hands/Head off the top of my head but assuming they're easily beaten by Askar Manos/Iron Ram Sallet.

You can swing at things chasing you while running backwards, parry, etc.

I do it ALL the time in campaign when I War/Dnc and get a little overwhelmed on TP, pop into first person view, unlocked so I can full speed backwards, then run to either get away from new mobs while building TP, or land a gravity, get a hit, back up, erase, then run away til waltz recast is back, get a few more hits for TP while they cast or whatnot.

If you know the area you're running in well enough it's not hard, and you do actually get parries and whatnot while running that way, could shield block too.
