As far as I know, each person can only have claim on one target. So theoretically, if you have enough adds, and members of your party start dealing with the adds, then it probably came down to the COR being the only one with a claim on Aspid as a current target. Once he went down, aspid goes yellow, because everyone else's claim is used up on an add.

Simple solution: As soon as you sleep an add, do something to the main target quick, to re-aquire the main target as your claim. But it's one of those little minutia that most folks won't figure out on the trip to 75.

Then again, this is an MMO. Still could be glitches which caused aspid to go yellow. It's must be fairly nice for Group B to steal an HNM from Group A, claim it was because Group A was stupid, when really it was the result of a glitch. Group A lost it through no fault of their own. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

From what I skimmed of the OP they mentioned a rdm in main ally doing stuff to aspid and sleeping adds, probably went yellow when he slept something and caused it to go red, how I don't know but if the full alliance was on their feet thats really the only explaination visible in the first two paragraphs. If I'm wrong I'll write a full letter of apology and forward it to the linkshell.

HNMs used to turn yellow all the time. Could always be a chance to get a random throwback to that, if the code still exists in there. And odds are, it does. Never underestimate the bugs present in a sophisticated piece of code. Hell, people are wanting to call a Charby nodrop, a glitch. It's equally plausible a glitch could occur in both cases.

If it's something that used to happen 'all the time' there would be far more discussion on it, and it would be more than just something somebody who doesn't even kill HNMs uses as a reference point to prove his argument when he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Stop using hyperbole to prove your points, when they're not even remotely sustainable, it's your personal opinion of how the world should be, and you're trying to demonize anyone who doesn't agree, you're like the catholic church only more annoying.

I still maintain that I have never seen an HNM go yellow due to anything but user error, cite sources of solid proof or just go away, you're trying to prove to me it happens, I'm not trying to prove to you it didn't.

Just to clarify, the main tank was a red mage. When we had adds the main tank quickly turned his attention to the add beating on him. He used chainspell, casted sleep on the add, and casted utsusemi on himself. At this time, Aspidochelone went unclaimed which resulted in Janecloudeanjaii quickly spamming stun macro on Aspidochelone to claim it for himself.
