How to get my Overwhelming Energy back

SE gimped us by making the Bahut's counteracting the Mogenhancements...I've never really understood all of this to do with Aura/Energy, i was just told to buy as many Bahuts as i could untill my moogle told me my energy was Overwhelming. Now i don't know what to buy/use in my MH again, most websites haven't been updated and still list many items as being useful when infact the last update rendered them useless for crafters. I was just wondering what you guys use to get your overwhelming Earth energy but still maintaining your Mogenhance.: CC.

Why do you want Overwhelming Earth Energy with Moghancement:Clothcraft?

(Oh and 100 earth energy gives you overwhelming... if you want to just be able to remove the CC item and still have overwhelming energy, you'd need 100 without counting the sign).

Thanks guys, and to Ambir: It was to my understanding that having overwhelming every for any element, grants you a higher chance of saving materials if you break using that crystal element.

I still crit break all my togi synths (lose both d logs) before/after, with/without moglification and overwhelming.

I was under the same impression as Viviton. When I break-synthed Errant Slops I used overwhelming Earth. When I desynthed Prism Capes I would use overwhelming Lightning. I'm not sure if it actually helps or not but that's what I did...

Is Divine Lumber like Damascus Ingots where if you break you're going to lose it 90%+ of the time regardless?

EDIT: Both BG Wiki and FFXI Wiki say that's what it's for: Minimize material loss. Perhaps it's not proven but various sources seem to agree.

I'm not completely sure about that. I did a lot of breaksynthing GS 70-80 and have some good figures on how many ingredients I lost with Moghancement:Fire and Overwhelming Fire energy, which I feel was well worth the cost of the cupboards.

The reason I asked though, is that you only save ingredients with Moghancement:<Element of Crystal>. With Moghancment:<Craft> (which is what you seemed to be trying for), you get a flat +1 Skill no matter what your energy level, so the extra energy is pointless.

It could still be a valid technique to have an Overwhelming energy in your MH, if at 100 you have a lot of synths of the same crystal (and of the same crystal as your sign) that don't need the full 100+6 to break a tier. Move the sign in and out to swap between Moghancements...

First, weather effect doesn't affect synthesis.
Second, how would you even prove this to be the case?

This test involves the use of furniture elemental aura to reduce the amount of ingredients lost when breaking a synth. They test at three different levels: none, weak and very strong. It seems beneficial to have an aura of some sort, but between weak and strong there is much less difference.

Approximately 10% reduction in loss rate with both "weak" and "very strong" aura over no aura (and hence no moghancement) at all.

"Quite strong" in JP = Overwhelming in EN I believe? It's 100+ points in that element.

BTW, I have that book, they also conclude in another test that Full moon crafting gives higher chances of both HQ and breaks.

The Maniacs' Ultimate book of crafting (Famitsu). The book overall isn't great, though, as usual it has no numbered recipes caps, it does have some good info here and there but it's mostly a collection of item/recipes lists and the poor layout makes it hard to use. If you need something on crafting, I'd much rather recommend the Guild Masters Guide from Softbank.

Regarding the moon phase trial...well all of their trials. Their data was good, but from a statistics point of view their conclusions weren't well supported. For example, their "fullmoon=break/hq increase" was based on a break rate of 7% (rather than the expected 5%) and 48% (rather than the expected 45%) over 300 samples.

Unfortunately, these deviations fall below a reasonable significance threshold, meaning that there's a reasonable chance it was just random bad luck, rather than solid evidence of a boost.
