Better question: what is the minimum stats a Bird could win with?

I've got my black riding bird that is first class strength and just under first class endurance, not enough without higher disc/rec/abilities huh?

That torque makes me wanna get into the choco stuff.

One of my mules is currently on race #5 (didn't try it yet), it's stats are SS/A/C/F. That mule had a really easy time. My other two mules are worse of, despite having the same stats, one failed the fourth race two times already, while the other fails at the third.
So I'd recommend some Dis and/or Rec (even if it's just via temporar items).

My dream race winner is SS/A/C/C.

How do you start the new choco racing stuff anyway?

Near the racing NPCs outside of the Circuit there are new NPCs, those start the new missions.
And Elvaan (Lafaurelle) opposite the Circuit entry in Sandy.
The Windy one (Tarutaru) is standing across from the stables, little way next to the Warp-Taru.
The Bastok one (Galka) is standing against the low stables wall next to the Circuit entrance.

Probably a noob question, but what is the best way to amass large quantities of chocobucks? Every time I take part in an official race i win money, only the free runs give me bucks (1-5) and I get a few from from Hot and cold daily. How the heck did you get 800 to splurge on races? is there something i have missed?

Long, long, long hours of free racing -.-
And the last update really nerfed it. My dearly beloved racer did 50 Bucks per hour, now I'm below 40.

My Racing Chocobo is SS/S/C/D - Canter & Gallop. She was able to beat the first three Monster races with no trouble. Fourth Race took two tries I think, Fifth race (for the Torque) took 2-3 tries. Last race was very difficult, taking 7 tries to beat.

Probably not. Offensive and defensive abilities are a major part of these races, far more than the previous official races. Raw speed will not get you very far.
