As for why Paladins are so much better at keeping hate because they have more abilities...because the Ninja is a tank that tanks by avoiding damage, by giving them the type of abilities that would make it easier to hold hate by themselves, that would make them so powerful -- more powerful than the Paladins -- that we think this would be the problem. So we would rather have them maintain what they have now and work with other jobs to help maintain that hate, rather than taking all that hate themselves and going beyond the abilities of a Paladin.
Is SE aware that paladins are subbing NINJA to tank, and you know, avoiding more damage than NINJAS? Also lol at dokumori ichi being SO POWERFUL, isn't it like 3 dmg/tick?
    And what about levels 1-74?

The new avatarS sounded nice but also seemed like they were cheating in that regard. Less abilities but more avatars... sounds like they could've had one big avatar with all those abilities but they know summoners like multiple new shiny avatars... very cunning SE
To me it didn't seem like they were giving less abilities just because they were lazy. To me it seems like by a new type of avatar they may mean they are making a hybrid of what we have now. I can see them coming out with a type of spirit avatar, or an avatar with command bloodpacts but still has a will of its own.

For example if they added Alexander as an avatar he may have 3 offensive pacts and 2 defensive, then while engaged in battle he would cast spells on a timer effected by summoning skill like spirits do. And if they did something like that, the avatars would not only have good use for the new abilities, but also would be good for the use you get out of them with lower perpetuation. In that case they would gain more benefit from lower perpetuation than avatars do, much in the way free spirits = free magic/melee and free avatars = free melee only. I think if they came up with a way to combine the A.I. system for spirits with that of avatars it would be worth it. Story-wise with Alexander being an awakened celestial avatar, this type of system would make a lot of sense.

    Re: New 1up (Milkman) Interview

Did anyone really expect anything from this interview? I mean the only way your going to see any big time changes to the king system is when their subscription numbers start taking huge dives per month like i believe happened back when they decided to fix ulli. I remember people were so fed up back then they started to quit over the rmt problems in sky.

Some of the questions were ok, i lol'd at the hacking/cheating comments. SE hasent even begun to get rid of the botters that plague every single worthwhile spawn in the game.

    Re: New 1up (Milkman) Interview

This could have been a lot worse, but it did have some usefulness.

However, you really can see how often the devs actually fucking listen. Ninjas don't need abilities because they tank by evading? Yeah, they evade cause the shit is over beating up the Samurai instead. Easy to evade when the mob isn't looking at you. Dual-wield is the reason for A-? Bullshit. Ninjutsu? Whatever, but seriously, they gave RDM Para II, why can't we get Ni?

But what amused me the most was the thing about set bonuses for AF/Relic. My fucking ass they'd have to remove stats. What about, I dunno, Kirin's Osode that boosts, what, 9 stats? Yeah, really have limited "space" on the "armor" for adding stuff. Fuck off, that was such a pile of bullshit. That said, who cares, its AF.

No AV? Milk just figured out Kirin, lets not get ahead of ourselves. At least SE wasn't COMPLETELY retarded in the interview, only mostly.

Yeah, that clearly has less stats than AF and therefore can easily have set bonuses... right.

well hell, they could take off some of the stats nobody uses on AF and relic sets. Like that awesome +4 vit on my summoner's pigaches i'm always relying on.

I don't think they're talking about text boxes, it sounds like they're talking about how items are programmed.

But anyways, are you whining about them not boosting AF? AF having silly stats is not worth being angry about.

1UP: Since Final Fantasy XI is the only majorly successful MMO to ever hit a video game console and to survive for seven years, can you tell us what you think has attributed to FFXI's long-lasting success?

Hiromichi Tanaka: Actually, that's a mystery to us as well, why it's been so successful with the players.
Well, thats comforting. SE can't come up with a reason why anyone would want to play their own game. "Why is your game popular?" "Hell if I know man."

I kinda agree.. when reading what they mentioned it would seem like the distinction between the new avatars the older ones will be quite obvious..
I think it might come as a hybrid of existing avatar groups... since the new ones wont belong anywhere in the old classifications (i've now given up on the idea of alexander)

say (light) Ixion for example, he might come with maybe.. 3 + 1 (astral flow) pacts max.. but come with slightly higher perp costs than celestials... but also have significantly higher attack and accuracy.. and so on.. but be far less pact reliant for damage, or to tank...

it would be a clever way to balance adding new summons as well... because in the traditional sense a new avatar = around 3 new job abilities + 3 new 'weapon skills'... which is more than what any other job gets per each addition

Adding instanced monsters on timers for players the same way Dynamis is is continually brought up and ignored. I'm a player that has a ton of rare stuff, but the time it takes to get some items is a little rediculous and it's hard to see how they can ignore that aspect of the game.

I don't care too much really, but it's just funny reading what they have to say.

Hiromichi Tanaka: Actually, that's a mystery to us as well, why it's been so successful with the players.
This is the best quote taken out of context ever. I laughed so hard when I read it.

    Okay, a few things:

    1. People seriously need to stop complaining about what they said about NIN. Yeah, I could why it would offend someone who wants to see enfeebling ninjetsu buffed but what they are basically saying is "You guys turned our crappy RDM/THF/RNG hybrid into a good tank and potent DDer, so we'll just go with that".

    2. Milkman and SE both seem painfully oblivious that "heavy armor" means really little in this game. What matters is the +enmity, +haste, and -dmg% magical or physical. PLDs sub NIN for more serious shit because Heavy Armor means very little. I don't think in all of these interviews has anyone just said "No, PLD don't take damage, they sub /NIN" and "No, Defense doesn't mean much anymore, how about that eh?". Yeah PLDs can still bloodtank and they are always making it more viable, but there's a big gap that you can't miss...

    3. Milkman hasn't even played the update. Just felt like saying this. Because Milkman sucks.

    4. Nomad Moogles not being added because of all those potential hacks in Selbina seems interesting or whatever.

    5. The Ridill in Nyzul Assault question was stupid to ask. That's a kind of question people would ask when ToAU first came out...

    6. That whole HNM section could have been asked and answered better.

    7. That "after this expansion we can focus on blah blah" line has aged. They've been saying it since CoP. Really, do something about Conquest, NMs and HNMs, and Exp Camps of pre-ToAU content.

    8. WotG has a lot of content, but the content mostly doesn't focus on the right people and it doesn't reward as nicely as ToAU did. This has been the first time where people have felt like they've gained a lot good items out of the expansion and more than half of it comes from Aht Urhgan. It's almost like they are separating it on purpose. And if you are going to target the 1-60 level range, how about making that whole portion of the game more enjoyable in general. People are rushing to get out of it. There are no eco-warriors, EFs, and etc being done because people don't find them rewarding anymore.

    9. Any FFXI player worth his weight knows there is no Giddeus [S]. Milkman, you suck so much.

    10. Back to the Heavy Armor part. I bet a MNK with counterstance on would love to have a heavy breastplate on.

    11. I think what they said about armor has less to do with how much effects you can have on armor and more with how much you can add. Which sucks, because that would mean they could never improve gear by adding stats. Which they never do anyway.

    12. Norg ferry question? For real?

    13. And another stupid question. How many times has SE said they won't be putting an end to FFXI with a new game.

    1. Personally I don´t think the NIN answers were bad. I also don´t think NIN needs those other NI-spells. Some more Abilities would be nice though for increased damage, then there is no need to make Katanas A/A+.

    2. I also don´t know, why he did not respond with PLDs are tanking with avoiding damage as well in almost everything they fight.

    5. I had to read that question twice to make sure he really is not asking about Ridill and Nyzul Assault in one question.

    9. /sigh. I again thought the same lol

    12. I actually don´t think this question was bad. It maybe took 30 seconds to ask and answer.

I like that they know that SCH is in removing status effects above WHM right now and that they change something. Also that said again that there will be new summons. I mean they said it already before once.

About the Fafnir explanation. Why did Milkman not say that Fafnir only really has Ridill to drop and that there is no better Item for it. I mean the only Reason people still camp Fafnir is Ridill.

Personally I think that they will do something to Kings very soon. It´s sad though that they can´t make all NMs just like ZNMs. You go to another area, for which you need a Key Item that costs you “whatever” and you can only get that key Item once every 7 days to warp to that other area. That way everyone could fight them with their original drops and 7 days is not too bad. Hell make it 14 days for 3-5 day spawns and 5-7 days for Kings. Of course they can also still leave the original NMs where they are.

I had to laugh here more btw :
1UP: Are there plans to improve Automaton and Adventuring Fellow A.I. because watching them cast Silence at enemies like crabs that don't need silencing is annoying.
MG: The guy in charge of that is not here today, so I'm going to answer for him. I'm not 100 percent positive on this, but the Automaton is supposed to only cast Silence on monsters that would cast magic, and uh, but....
    1UP: They don't.
MG: Yeah. I'm not 100 percent positive that it's that way with every single monster. That's the way it's supposed to be designed, but I can see how there might be some who have slipped through the cracks.
1UP: So you'll be looking into it?
MG: Yeah. I will report this to the man in charge, Mr. Matsui.
    I did imagine :

MG>Hey man your puppets are not working, what the fuck did you do?
    Mr. Matsui> Huh?

The Interview wasn´t too bad, but every person who plays a bit more every week, felt/read/figured that Milkman doesn´t play a lot.

I think the NIN answer is bullshit, though I'm not a Ninja personally. Having +A Skill in Katana and Ninjutsu would make taking for them THAT much easier-- When heavy DD jobs can do a single WS and fully yoink hate, NIN need all the harder and more accurate hits they can get. As for extended Ni line, also bullshit as they can simply readjust/raise the caps for RDM spells so Ninjutsu will continue to be 2nd string in enfeebling.

They could also fix shurikens so they are more appealing to use; like a crafting fix so one can make it with semi decent priced materials, or attach enmity + to them all, so NINs can keep up/build their hate with every successful hit (I understand Nokizaru Shuriken exists, but it's a joke being Rare, and furthermore not stackable).

From there, I find it interesting that they have their sights set on fixing WHM up so it's more appealing than SCH and RDM. Maybe they'll add Cure VI, Curaga V, and Bar II spell lines.

Odds are good the only thing they'll change is DV. Repose was surprising, they might surprise us again, but from what they said, better -na AOE is all WHM can count on.

As far as the whole tanking thing goes, PLD is the best tank for everything, NIN needs better hate tools, RDM need better enfeebling acc. Finishing Ni, adding San, and enhancing RDM enfeebles would be a cleaner fix than they make it seem.

Having A+ skill doesn't really help NIN all that much when they are going to be using staff when tanking something that matters.

Cure 6 and -ga 5 would not really help WHM at all. I can´t find myself using those spells honestly. Whenever I need a big cure, Cure 5 does the job. Barspell II or so would be nice though for 74-75 jobs but still would not help in removing Status effects. DS should be like it is, but make DV a seperate JA with 1-2 min recast and WHM is back to #1 for sure imo.
