Rata is one of those players that you either love him, or hate him. He doesn't sugarcoat things, so that does come off as a bit abrasive to some people. (As you can obviously see in this thread.) To me, whenever we would talk or do something together, I always kept that in mind. Sure he is not the most diplomatic person, but he means well.

I was in a Dynamis LS that he ran a couple years back. (wow, was it that long ago?...) He led this group well. For the most part, it was composed of maybe 8-10 core players and 15-20 more tag-alongs who were only first experiencing end-game. He had a lot of success leading this group, especially with some people that were not experienced in Dynamis.

He is very good at his jobs. I can say this for all but Pup because I haven't really played much in the last few months since he leveled it. But for Mnk, Smn and Pld he knows what he is doing both gear-wise and skill-wise.

He has a bad rep on the server because he was never one of those people to take shit from other people. Again, he it is just how he is. But I geninely believe he almost always means well. I believe this because I know how helpful he is to other people (including myself on several occasions.)

Good guy, decently skilled player, helpful, knowledgeable, yadda-yadda. Accept him but remember to take what he says with a grain of salt. If you can't tolerate someone that will give you the straight dope, then he might not be your cup of tea.

I will have to agree with you with that. I do prefer people to stand up to things they believe is right, than people procrastinate or ignoring something that they can do something about it.

I did not know Shabet does not like Ratatapa. Even among people who are nice, there will be differences imo. For sure, I can understand why people can see Ratatapa as rude (as he does in fact acts a little rude sometimes, but so am I). Shabet is nice person too (^_^) Otherwise, opinion from Veruna, Chip, and Deathgazer should be taken with a grain of salt. They do not come clean, and only good at talking trash.

in-game morality

IMO in-game morality is the same as the morality treating a stranger who is standing in front of you for a check-out counter or the guy driving near you on a highway. Behavior to strangers/internet should not be a taking advantage of lack/small chance of a consequence.

Sounds like my type of guy. If anything you would think that being honest and to the point would be an noble attribute to have, but then again the truth only hurts to those who cannot handle it. I formally met Rata in game yesterday and had a blast. Even HQ a triumph earring for him by mistake, First time ever apologizing for an HQ lol but we got the NQ we wanted and i;m glad it worked out for him in the end.

I have known him from KI for a few years, it was good to see him finally in person. I look forward to seeing where this thing goes from here, he's always seemed to be a good enough person to me. Maybe its because the asshole in me can relate, who knows. Welcome aboard Rata!
