How do you guys calibrate your monitor?

I know some people have that little gadget that helps you calibrate your monitor, but what if you don't own it? I suck ass at getting the contrast/color/brightness right on this thing. Does anyone who's pro at this have any tips Q_Q?

3 Ways.

1) Fidle around with all the settings until everything looks good and your eyes arnt strained.
2) Read up on how the different properties are supposed to be 'properly' set up. www.avsforum.com
3) Cheat and download this http://www.practical-home-theater-guide ... eater.html there is a II edition out too, made in '08, and have it guide you on how to properly set it up.

4 could be to pay someone I guess.

Just take comfort in that you didn't pay through the nose and that your panel probably has a better refresh rate.
