Anyone here own a ford ranger? NEED HALP!

Here is the situation. My ABS light is on, and speedometer is not working. now the transmission isn't shifting properly when speeding up (it's an automatic) I was reading up on this and it says it's a possible ABS rear sensor thats either bad or knocked loose. At work so I can't check it...but does anyone have experience in this issue. any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'll play magic car technician on the internet. The vehicle speed sensor or VSS or ABS sensor is the most likely the cause or your problem much like you are thinking. Check the connections at that sensor but also look at the transmission/transfer case (if 4x4) for another sensor. There are resistance value specs that each sensor has to be within to function properly with the PCM and BCM. Those values may/may not be available online, you might have to dig around a bit more. Yes, these are commonly failed parts. Good luck!

Its that rear sensor, we have a fleet of rangers, it goes bad.

Seconding the Rear ABS Sensor, it's a very common problem for those Rangers.
Check it first, should be able to pull specs from a Chilton/Haynes manual, or possibly on Autozone.com or a web search for it.

(I work for a guy who does repair work, I personally just do engine work, but I've heard of that problem quite often from the other techs in the shop, and I used to sell parts for years)

Alot of the new Genesis systems can check the ABS lights. Simply plug it in and it'll tell you which one is bad. Most shops around here charge 40-60 bucks for that.

i went thru the same prob with my 96 ranger. mine is a 5 speed tho. the abs sensor was causing my problem along with the plug for the tow hitch for the lights on a trailer. if u have a tow hitch check that connection as well. mine was full of corrosion and shorted out.

Got it fixed, was the rear ABS light as was said. Now she is running back to normal. Admins, you can lock the thread if you want. thanks for the responses btw :D
