    CPUZ

So I have an E6300 (C2D 1.86ghz) and CPUZ was saying it was running with a 266fsb and x6 multiplier giving me 1.596ghz. However, the system properties box was saying 1.86, as was the POST info screen(x7 multiplier). I moved my fsb up to 280 so it's at 1.96 now, but CPUZ is saying 1.68. Any ideas?

Check if Intel Speedstep is on, it allows the operating system to throttle down the mutliplier when the computer is idling to conserve power. If you turn this off, or put your CPU under a stress test, you should see CPU-Z reflect your true speed values.

Yup, and for most users, you'll probably want to leave Speedstep on as it can reduce CPU temp by a fair amount, while still throttling back to full speed when you request it.

only time you might want to disable C1E is if you provide a non-stock voltage, because the throttling can cause stability issues with over-volt setups.
