    The magic resistance patch.

Someone on my server said it affect sleep and gravity only. I was under the assumption it affect all magic on NMs up to a certain point (25-30%?)

I ask this because we were discussing Bind on faust, he said it doesn't build a resistance at all, but I've clearly been able to land bind right at the begining of the fight with no problems, but near the end he resists me again and again (ending in dead taru lol.) Anyone wanna help me out seeing as I wasn't paying attention that patch? lol

    Thanks,
    Red

Like I told you ingame, it's on a mob-by-mob basis. On mobs where it builds resistance it becomes obvious pretty quickly(vulpangue, uninvited guests, bionic bug, etc), with it sticking for full duration for a while then becoming near/entirely worthless. On faust, or the other mobs you claim to have a bind resistance triggering after the 30 minute mark, it's just bad luck.. compare it to gravity, sleep, or even bind resistance on mobs that actually have it where it'll become very noticable within 10 minutes.

I remember hearing this effect elemental magic as well. Don't know where from, could have just been an idiot in my ls. But anyway. I'll read that thread above. Still curious on patch notes.

    Re: The magic resistance patch.

The elemental patch didn't effect enfeebling magic, it just made it so that synced nukes become a bit weaker as each goes off. The patch that changed enfeebling specifically mentioned gravity, though many mobs also have inherent resistance to sleep <_>

    Re: The magic resistance patch.

Some NMs specifically build Bind resistances with repeated use, but not most of them. Faust is definitely not one of them, he's just a bitch to land Bind on.

Practically all NMs, however, will build resistance to Gravity with repeated use, that is what they patched in terms of enfeebling resistance.

Elemental resistance is a bit different, basically if BLMs just sit and hammer a NM with the same nuke over and over, it will build up resistance to that element over time, I believe the resistance cools off after a bit if you lay off nuking with that Element.

    Does it matter which element?

    Affected Magic Types
The following magic types will trigger the accumulative magic resistance effect when used repeatedly on monsters whose strength is "impossible to gauge":
    Black magic (elemental)
    White magic (divine)
    Ninjutsu
    Magical Blood Pact abilities
    Magical blue magic
Magical weapon skills (Spirits Within, Red Lotus, etc.)
Certain job abilities (Chi Blast, Mijin Gakure, etc.)

    Resistance Fluctuation
When a monster with accumulative magic resistance is hit by a magic attack, the amount of damage it receives will decrease in accordance with that monster's resistance. At the same time, its resistance will increase.

The monster's resistance will increase in accordance with the amount of damage incurred, but each monster has a maximum resistance level.
    This implies any magic damage.

I quote this because I seem to get a lot more resists later in solo fights than early on, even though I'm just nuking on RDM rather than hammering it with nukes. Ullikummi is a particular example. (Well, solo with 2 characters anyway, where I *can* semi-constantly nuke because of Collaborator spam.) The odd thing about this is that every time I hit a full nuke, it does the same amount of damage, despite the above clearly stating that damage will go down as well as resistance going up.

Just to add to the list of mobs that build resistance to Bind, everything in Limbus.

    Re: The magic resistance patch.

It doesn't matter which element. All NMs build up a magic damage-% effect from being hit by consecutive nukes, i.e., if 2 people nuke at the "same" time, whoever actually landed their spell second will receive a damage penalty. Doesn't matter if one used Thunder and one uses Blizzard; they still get a penalty.

Ironically I think the reasoning behind this patch was to prevent people (namely RMTs) from mass spamming BLM on HNMs.

But the 'nerf' wasn't that bad and really was only noticeable if you had all the BLMs spam at the same time (like in a skillchain magic burst). So all this really did was nerf SC+MB damage. A couple of randomly nuking BLMs would barely even notice.

Yeah, timed nukes and things like Magic Bursts are the only places I've ever noticed this. Or those weird times when I cast the same time as some other Black Mage and then we yell at each other because one of us messed the other one's nuke.

I see now. I guess the 5% failure rate is bound to catch up with you after casting so many bind's on some of these higher level NMs. Even Avesta got a couple resists on Seiryu, and was forced to just tank it for a minute while waiting on recast.

The elemental patch was dumb. 6 BLMs can still kill zip in 30 seconds, didn't do much to stop RMT from just hammering BLMs to 75 and spamming sky. Oh well.

I assume it is because of how some RMT blm aren't that geared well (SOME) so making them work a little harder to wear par gear to get over that resistance

I agree that they should reverse the changes to the patch . The good thing that came out of the patch was people realized they could actually TP burn everything , and now with that they do it with much more ease and no penalty in comparison to a MB.

They need to revert that shit back. I didnt care at first since it had little impact, but then I realize beating other BLM's gears wasn't doing anything anymore, I also had to nuke first.

    Re: The magic resistance patch.

Khim builds resistance to Stun, doesn't it? Do other HNM's do the same? I read in some thread a long time ago about how ridiculously easy Sky Gods are to low man when you put them on stun lock. So can I assume that means they don't build resistance to Stun?

The only resisted stuns I've seen are from when BLM A & BLM B both launch a stun at the sametime. One of them is wasted...

Nuking first on a magic burst isn't always that easy! Some miss it and nuke it before, other randomly hit the MB first.

2 stun on same mobs = "no effect", not a resist.
