    I don't see a pld soloing this in 20min. I call bullshit.

Well, Hauteclaire should sorta' make up for lack of Enspells, and Reprisal should easily make up for Phalanx and spikes. Even if it didn't, there are a handy pair of Ice Spikes pants that are pretty commonly used for Paladin soloing.

Also, I didn't really consider Fealty. No clue as to the duration/recast of it, but would it help to prevent a significant amount of Elegies? If that were the case, one could probably use a more offensive subjob to speed things up a bit.

Camped yesterday on mule for TOD, looks like competition will be only 3 JP players. They didn't get the drop so I'm sure they will be back today.

It's impossible now unless you could reset rage soloing, but I did in fact do this in under 20 minutes. Yes I know this SS doesn't prove shit so don't believe it if you don't want, but that patch heavily affected simurgh. Note the gil I guess and RMT surrounding me, but like I said, no actual vid so believe what you want.

Edit: If you were going to do it now you would use joyeuse not haute or excal, but ya you'd get it to 50 or 60% before rage.

are you familiar with how excalibur's additional effect works? i'm quite sure it would outdo joyeuse on sim despite it being piercing weak, on top of KoR's regen..sound the tekki alarm, get an expert opinion in here, I only have caliburn :<

    Re: Holding Simurgh

I am aware of excal's hp affect, but I thought (could be wrong) that it is spectacularly inconsistent. When I did this, joyeuse was swinging for 120 a shot so that would have to proc a ton to hold up.

    Re: Holding Simurgh

when I asked tekki about the proc rate since he has parsed it extensively, he said it ranges from 11-15%, maybe I was overestimating it, but yeah; for my duos I used joyeuse as well, have to pretty much rely on the THF though(he was decked out), however he got elegied once and we raged it at 3%..so its kind of important not to have that happen heh

Am I missing something? What's there to not understand with a PLD using a D Ring? Much less in a screen shot where they're obviously showcasing their best gear and not necessarily showing a set their full-timing.

Even with Aegis, the -10% physical taken is almost always better than any other piece you can put there. Obviously there are situations where you might want/prefer enmity or something, especially if you're macro intensive, but there's certainly very little to no room to question why one would wear it.

I wasn't sure if that was his actual equipment or just a showcase, hence the inquisition.

To be honest, when you've gone through the trouble of attaining equipment of that caliber, I just assume you're probably pretty into your job, and subsequently, macro intensive.

Its certainly not a bad piece of equipment by any stretch of the imagination; Aegis or not, you're going to get hit sometimes. I, personally, would have just used a ring that was helping me no matter the situation. But again, I'm certainly not going to(and didn't, if you saw ) jump down someone's throat for full-timing it.

    Re: Holding Simurgh

It came off to me as more of a critic than a friendly inquisition, but I think I'm just too used to your typical BG person. D:

    So that's my mistake!

I feel the same but, with tanks it's a sensitive issue. Some swear by blinking like a strobe light and have mages that work around it and are used to it... And some swear that any blinking at all causes havoc or problems with mages.

Although with rings it's different since you don't actually blink, but same general principle... Because if you're the kind of person that doesn't want to blink, you'll usually be less macro-intensive on PLD.

Also, I don't think there really is any ring that could help in any situation. I almost never full-time in it since of course (as you said) it's not always in use, but it is more often than most rings. But I guess that's more a matter of opinion!

    Re: Holding Simurgh

Since the thread has been derailed already, I don't blink unless I absolutely have to, but in my idle set of gear I wear little enmity, but I change almost everything else when I use a JA or cast Flash/Utsusemi (non-blinking). For example, for Flash/JA I equip my second Hades+1, Harmonia's Torque(@3k until Ritter), Mermaid/Hercules' Ring and Trance Belt(except for utsusemi/flash). For utsusemi I equip Boxer's Mantle, Shield Torque, and Buckler Earring so as not to blink, then back to idle set. Pretty standard practice, though; Ruke has a point about DRing though, a lot of the mobs I fight have physical attacks that can down my shadows and do physical damage (looking at you Tourbillion..), and its really just to idle in for lack of anything better

Well, regardless of how either of you perceived it, it was intended to be a friendly inquisition.

God knows I'd kill for that ring.

I'm not going to nitpick this anymore but this looks like it was more of a clusterfuck fight than a 100%>0% solo kill. I am not calling you a liar but this pic looks fishy to me seeing as all Sim's I have seen killed here have probably raged, killed alot of people, and then finally got killed by some random person. Why would you pull it all the way there if you solo'd it?

Edit: And what patch are we talking about here? Sim has raged in 20min for ..umm like ever except waaay back in the day.

    Re: Holding Simurgh

There was a patch that severely messed up resist rates, there were some screenshots floating around of entire alliances resisting enfeebles from dynamis pets.. I'll look for the date later if I remember to. During that patch, it was easy to resist elegy and sim/roc had normal evasion and accuracy for their programmed level.

Honestly I'm not pissed that you'd call bullshit on that, I really wanted to get more proof when I did it but it was really early in the morning lol. But ya what evilpaul said, that patch where resist rates were weird changed a lot of things about simurgh and made it soloable.
