FFXI Newsletter Issue #1

First of all please excuse me if this is just me being paranoid but in this day and age of FFXI, One can never been too sure.

OK Woke up about 30 minutes ago and checked email like normal and checked email but found 2 versions of an email claiming to be from SE and about a new "newsletter"

Now since Live Messenger opens email in IE and i have no protection for IE, I deleted them and head here to see if anybody else had gotten this email, As of the time of his posting there is no topics relating to this, So i opened firefox and check email and opened the email and this is what i got.

Now first thing i did was check noscript to see if there was any weird things getting blocked and there wasnt
I also did a detail sweep of the email to look for iframes or imbedded flash and found nothing.

Now as you can see for yourself this look very very genuine and may infact be real but poses the fact, Why wait 6 years before bring out Newsletters?

I get Newsletter since years..... it´s nothing new. (maybe you disabled it or so?)

They have come out for quite a while actually, uses your e-mail you registered with in POL (not your POL e-mail but your contect e-mail), they don't come out so often but you get one every 2-3 months or so.

I usually get an e-mail about up and coming releases from SE but this is the first time I have had one thats just about FFXI.

Well thats good to know since never in my entire 4 years of playing have i even got a email of any kind from SE.

At some point I started getting the email years after playing on an email account I had set up long after I started and that I've never, to my recollection, entered into POL. As best I can figure I must have called customer support for one reason or another and they guy asked my email at the time and I didn't think of it. Did you recently contact them?

Nah, I've never had to contact SE about anything.

Just read the newest entry to that. I have to admit I went thru that same crap when I originally got summoner to the dunes. It took me a god damn week to get from 10 to 20 but after that the levels started flying.

God that shit was such a fucking downer...

Yeah, I got my first one today, EU account etc. Looks totally legit, just pretty outdated info for anyone who browses BG regularly.

got my first one a few weeks ago, and I'm registered as having an NA address since those were the only countries allowed to register back in the day.
