Blizzard WWI 2008 - Paris (Diablo 3!!)

I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread for this yet. Blizzard's annual WWI is being held in Paris this weekend. There has been a hype campaign going on for the last few days on Blizzard's main page in the form of a daily changing splash image reminiscent of both the WoW and SC2 unveilings. An interview with Rob Pardo suggests a new game over something smaller like a beta date or release date. Much speculation points towards the unveiling of Diablo 3. There are a ton of reasons for this, but among them are some of the clues hidden in the splashes (which I personally think are just full of red herrings), Blizzard's somewhat recent acquisition of diablo3.com, a couple leaked references to Blizzard's longstanding 'project Hydra' making its unveiling during WWI, and probably most telling, the fact that the WWI is being held on the anniversary of Diablo (as Blizzard seems to never forget these little birthdays for their games).

I don't see why people are trying to make the connection to diablo 3 when the picture of ice and blue glowing eyes, when diablo is associated with fire, and has red glowing eyes.

Designed to attach to a keychain, the lightweight and waterproof Blizzard® Authenticator is an electronic device that generates a six-digit security code at the press of a button. This code is unique, valid only once, and active for a limited time; it must be provided along with the account name and password when signing in to the World of Warcraft account linked to it.

Well, theres a lot to counter that; the most obvious being Blizzard loves to throw people off. If I recall correctly, their splash campaign for WoW started out in space in the stars (very starcraft-y) and then zoomed in on what in the end turned out to be Azeroth.

For anyone curious about the rune thingies in the picture: The left one is of a rune on Arthas's sword from the WotLK website, the top right one is the Hel Rune from diablo 2, the bottom left one is a Protoss symbol from the SC2 website, and there is still some debate about the fourth (and newest one).

Blizzard has made completely new art of Diablo for their WWI logo, BlizzCon last year had old art and Diablo was in the back.

Diablo3.com previously pointed to diablofans.com, but was taken down on Monday. Blizzard is the owner of the domain so they took it down on purpose.

My only problem with Diablo 2 is the massive amount (read: EVERYONE) of people that use TMC, AA etc. It's bullshit, spending months getting that very specific item that makes your penis grow a few centimeters, just to have some cunt that uses TMC religously rape you in a duel where it's obvious their casting 10 times faster then what their gear allows, yet they deny it.

If this issue is fixed, plus giving the Diablo series the attention and updates and overhauls it needs (and I'm almost positive they will be if they do indeeed release D3), I'd be all over this game.
