Since everyone who's hardware savvy is in this thread ...
This is what I have so far.

I need a case, motherboard, processor, hard drive, and dvd drive/burner.
Primarily, I'm seeking a MB that wont have any issues whatsoever just being hooked up, having stuff plugged into it.
Don't wanna have to update firmware, or bios, or any of that crap. I just want it to work out of the box.
Unpack it, hook stuff up, plug it in, turn it on, and have it work.
Looking to keep the MB/Processor total under 500.
The help is appreciated. This is going towards the "How many unnecessary computers can I put in my livingroom" project.
7849 with an 18 tab firefox and FFXI running in the background with drawdistance set to 10 and background resolution at 2048x2048. Was too lazy to close them.
CPU: Intel E6750 Core 2 Duo. (2.66GHz x2)
Mobo: Abit IP35 Pro
Memory: 1GBx4 Corsair 400MHz (not all is used, but it was dirt cheap)
OS: WinXP Pro SP3
GPU: XFX 8800 GTS 320MB
Nothing overclocked.
None of the effects you listed (Drawdistance, background resolution) take effect in the benchmark. The benchmark runs off totally different registry entries.Originally Posted by Tirrock
He's saying he had FFXI the game itself running in the background with drawdistance and that background resolution ALONG with the benchmark
FFXI should have crashed. The screen resolution changes when the benchmark loads. If his FFXI didn't crash, he just performed a miracle lol.Originally Posted by dilbert

I'm very interested in this thread. I need to build a new PC soon as my current one is very old hat now. (Athlon XP3200, Radeon 9800 Pro).
All those benchmark figures are cool... but do people still get 30fps at Whitegate AH, Dynamis, Besieged or a crowded DA? That's what I'm interested in. I'm sick of getting shitty sub 20 fps in certain areas and it's even worse in the new expansion zones for Campaign (dunno why though).
PS. will update my post later with my figures, if only so I can watch those Tar00s™ dancing again.![]()
