Microsoft officially stops selling XP starting on Monday, June 30. Dell plans on continuing to preload XP to its customers for a $50 charge or in some cases for free.
But even more important than that, Bill Gates officially steps down as the head of Microsoft today, although he remains as chairman of the board. He plans on focusing on his philanthropic projects. Love him or hate him, he was a visionary and changed the world forever. As an Apple guy, I got a lot of respect for the man.
With that said, MSFT's future looks pretty bad right now. Nobody is embracing their new OS, they were rejected by Yahoo, and they have a nut for a CEO.
