Uh, yeah. It seems that to restore voices to skits is going to require some hacky stuff. Still trying to figure the rest of the game out, and flesh out all the other errors and leave a "partial undub" complete on the side, so I can just mess with the skits.

I got all of the story stuff undubbed, and about 90% of the battles are undubbed. Some of the voices are still in English for some reason, trying to figure that out now before I move on to skits. Good thing is I have a week to work on this before I can even release it? :D

    Oh man

Maybe I'm a little slow, but I just realized that if you completely fill up the weapon grid with gems, you unlock a secret ability/stat for that weapon (that only activates when the grid is full).

I definitely really like the weapon system even more now. Just got past the boat part.

I hear there's a fair amount of missable stuff in this game. Wish there was a list of it somewhere

If you pause the game, it should display your next objective in the lower corner.

    but I think
    Spoiler: show
Once you have the scene at the dojo and the girl joins your party as a guest, go out of town and hug the east wall til you find a sloping path downward (pretty sure it's a purple dot on the map actuallly). It should come up with a dialogue box to transition to a new area, make your way through there to progress.

At the end of the area is your first boss fight, and it's pretty tough... so be careful!

Kouli has a guide of the game with all the missables, side-quests and etc on his site, but I guess that doesn't help much since I'm unable to post link on my phone

It's pretty good guide, too. There were few errors, but he fixed them now. I know you can find link to his guide somewhere on GmaeFaqs.

oh wow that is pretty good, it has a list of all the missable weapons and optional bosses/rogress.

I still would like a map or list showing hidden items in towns and the world map, since I'm sure there's probably shards I'm missing.

Are there any Moon Inns before the capital? Cuz I can't get back there currently

I took a break from playing this but does the VA get any better later in the game or is it about the same? I'll probably play more later tonight but ugh. Wish it was just all text.

yknow, despite the less than stellar voice acting (which gets a little better as the game rolls on, except for Ryfia lol) this game has a really amazing soundtrack

There's an undub version at wiiso if anybody's interested. A few of the grunts when they get hit and when they finish an enemy are still in english, but other than that it's supposed to work. I'll be trying it out later on.

Got this from GameFAQs and it really helped me, so I'll pass it along here

When you get to the Casino in Carb.:
    Spoiler: show

The easiest/fastest way to earn Tokens in the Casino is Kopin Racing. You should always bet the max of 500 tokens, as race difficulty is determined by the Kopins racing and not how much you wager. Each Kopin has their own walk speed, run speed, boost stamina, boost recharge, etc.

Woody is probably the fastest and easiest to win with. Unfortunately, his payouts are usually between 2.0x and 3.0x, sometimes they go up above 5.0 in which case you should definitely use him.

Nanmy has the highest multiplier of the Kopins you can easily win with, usually between 5.0 and 7.0. Note that if Nanmy and Woody are up against eachother it's very hard to beat Woody with Nanmy, but his payout is high enough that you want to use him against other Kopins.

Joshua is also great, his payouts range from 3.0 to the mid 5.0s. I've beaten Nanmy/Woody with him a bunch of times, he's usually my go-to guy especially when his payout gets over 4.0.

How to actually race: pay attention to your Kopin, they have a slow trot and a fast run, you can tell the difference by the way the lean forward slightly when they run and it's (obviously) faster. While they're running shake the wiimote (tap a on the classic controller) to make them go faster, you won't get much of a speed boost from it if they're just walking. Make sure you stop before your stamina bar is completely empty, otherwise they'll overheat and stop dead in the middle of the track.

Using the above method you can easily make ~3000 tokens every 1-2 minutes.

Oh and the "Scarlet Trinket" prize gives the character wearing it the "More WP's effect", which multiplies WP earned from battles by 1.5x. I know for a fact it stacks with the Nagging Curse gem (2.0x WP, but 0 xp gain), and I think it stacks with the More WP gem as well... meaning you could conceivably get 30 WP from a 10 WP battle, which is really useful for grinding through new weapons when you get them. Only problem is finding space for two 2x2 gems on a 3x3 grid with locked gems already on it

But yeah, I bought 3 scarlet trinkets, it's easy enough to make tokens.

I just did the Gula fight...... God damn that was a toughie, even with my grinding.

Pro tip: Get as many HP+ items on your team as possible and loan up on Revives, Mid heal potions and anti petrify stuff....

has anyone else experimented with that weapon gem that has a chance to raise your max HP after battles? I was wondering if combining that with the boost force thing would work, and how much it raises your HP/how often

How is the game so far? It doesn't seem like there's much wrong with it besides the horrible VA, but I hear it's not as bad much later on?

Was looking at some of game so far and first 10min made me go "lol... Wtf?" Ryfia: "Strange... It's sunny but it's raining." Alf(I think that's his name): "The Devil must be beating his wife" Seriously, what the fuck at that, lol. First time I ever heard some shit like that.

Also, how is music so far? Are boss/battle themes pretty cool?

Yea, by the time you get to the 2nd or 3rd major city the VA either gets better, or you get used to it. Ryfia is still god-awful during battles but it's not a distraction anymore. The later party members are actually voiced pretty well.

I mentioned this a few posts ago but I've noticed the soundtrack for this game a bunch of times... it's great. It all sounds like typical RPG fare but it's stuff you haven't heard before, I really like the boss music but I think the music from some of the earlier towns is my favorite so far.

As a lot of reviews have stated the game is good, it just doesn't offer much beyond a well-crafted solid RPG experience. The weapon system is great, the magic system is a bit different (although it's hurt by the lack of AoE healing spells!), and the game even has an Arena and a Casino part of the way in. There's about 10 or so optional bosses and about 20 optional weapons, and boss fights are VERY tough so be prepared to grind quite a bit if you're planning on doing everything.

Other than the VA the worst part of the game is probably that the bosses are a little too difficult, especially since there's no tents or other ways to cheaply restore hp/mp at save points, and the magic system does FF3-style MP pools, with very limited MP for each spell level. Still, you get a lot of money so stocking up on items helps a lot.

Anyway if you can undub it or just ignore the voice acting it's a very good RPG experience. It probably won't knock your socks off but if you're a JRPG fan I don't see any reason why you should avoid it.

Bah. I can't wait to get home to finally start playing this now. I'm looking very forward to seeing how tough the boss battles are, and I know I'll be spending a lot of time at Casino and Arena. Seems like ARF has a few Tales elements now that I think about it. Interested in seeing how weapon system is, I think I saw you mentioning something about a grid? Either way, it looks very nice and can't wait to see how it is fully.

    Thanks, by the way.

The one thing I like about the weapons is that all of them can be useful. I made L'Arc my HP/resist, Cecille my ATK+/SPD+, and Ryfia with MAG/SP Cure.

Gula fight became easy once I got a few elemental resist amulets, and what I did was I formed a triangle on the first turn so he couldn't hit multiple people with his AoE moves.

Oh and a tip for an upcoming boss fight after gula and one other:

    Spoiler: show

When you do the 3v3 fight with Alf that is optional to winning, the best thing I found was to:
Turn 1: Ryfia defend, other 2 buff or attack (but save some AP)
Turn 2: 3 excel arts on Alf to trigger mystic fortune
Turn 3: same thing (alf should fall on this turn)
Turn 4: Heal/Revive as needed (Usually on turn 3 Adelle+Lesley will 1 shot with duo magic)
Then for the rest just either repeat mystic fortune on Adelle and/or use your rogress. Order should be Alf > Adelle > Lesley. Lesley is a joke when she is alone. You don't have to win this fight, but you get a nifty accessory and Rufunga which buffs and fully heals everyone which can be a life saver.

Full undub is out. Not by me, got lazy past few days and been too busy since I got home and finished finals

but, it's done by my hero asmodean, the fluffy kitty, so i'm sure it's good. The only thing he doesn't like to do is sub movies, but I think ARF already subs them, so it's all good.
