Did you not read the part where you turn in the marble? I'm fairly sure the reason they did that was so that there will still be fewer numbers of people who win anything.

I either won a V. Belt for my main, or 10M on a mule... but I can't ****ing log in for ~10 hours to check and see which one, and I can't remember which had 7101X, and which had 7111X. :-S

Also, 2 x behemoth hides and an XP scroll for all but one of my mules. Good times.

What i noticed is that the ones digit on all the winning numbers is different; so a most likely case is in order to have the moogles actually be able to determine what rank prize you got they have to key it off information; and in order to make sure it gave you the best prize they had to key it off of different numbers; therefore 5 different winning numbers.....

But yea picking 1 number would have probabaly made the playerbase much happier.
