Leave him alone
Call 911 for him
Perform CPR
Offer blood for a transfusion (assume he needs a rare blood type that you have)
Donate a kidney

Last house I lived at the neighbors literally watched my ex-wife slash my cars tires and smash my window while I was away for the weekend. They left a note on the door telling me they saw it. How helpful they were

So your neighbors paid attention to your house, watched a property crime, and then left you a note basically offering themselves as witnesses should you choose to press charges, and no one got hurt in the whole ordeal?

Only because he was afraid they were going to get away. He waited until they were leaving to do it, to give time for the police to arrive. But he told them from the beginning that he wouldn't let them get away.

Well, as you said you're no lawyer. The state (prosecutors in this case) can actually motion for a change of venue. Getting it actually changed is next to impossible, and I've never ever heard of the state moving a case out of state. The idea seems absurd to me, but I'm looking through a bunch of old resources to see if I possibly put my foot in my mouth. I'm the kind of person that will certainly let you know if I did.

Edit: You are wooshing yourself, The issue isn't the motion, it's moving it out of state. Any fucking guy on the sidewalk can tell you that the prosecution can motion for a change of venue. You don't have to go through law school to know that...
