There's nothing wrong with it being on the DS (way larger userbase, that's the obvious choice) and its not like the graphics will be bad if they do redo the graphics. I know not many have had the chance to play FF4DS since it's not out in english yet, but its no slouch. The graphics are superb for the DS, and the voice acting was well done (we'll see how well the English does). Also I don't understand how a "shitty extra dungeon" can totally fuck up a game since you know..you can most likely skip it and just relive your nostalgia in updated form. As far as I remember, FF4DS was exactly what I remembered of the original just harder and with a somewhat tweaked battle system (which was interesting to use), with the bonus of it being (imo) prettier, and a bit more polished.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I doubt it. I wouldn't expect much more than "draw x figure for y command" like how most Wii games work.

What would be neat though would be to remove the combo command from the menu, and just have the Tech menu list the character's single techs. For double techs, have the player circle the characters then indicate the targets, and that gets interpreted to determine which of the 3 double techs is used. For example, circle Crono and Ayla, then draw a line across the screens to indicate which enemies are to be targeted for Falcon Hit.

Probably just going to let you move around with the touch screen. I really hope they don't make it do stupid things, it would be completely unneeded in such a great game.

I will most likely buy this, I am a sucker for remakes and already own the original and PS1 versions. They keep remaking games because of people like me.

This... and yes the DS has a larger base, unfortunately 70% of those are aged 10 and under and buy nintendogs and animal crossing over and over. There are probably more PSP's in the correct age range that would be buying Chrono Trigger.

Yes, I too would have liked to relive the experience of Chrono Trigger on the PS1, where it takes 10 seconds to load every battle.

And this is just a ridiculous statement.

People are coming up with all kinds of bullshit reasons why a SNES game would make a better port to the PSP than the DS...

The stylus would be great if it helped you pick targets. I remember tearing my hair out on the SNES using only the D-pad and having the target land on something illogical, wasting precious seconds before my heal could land on the right guy.

i'll ask CT fans now then.

How are you supposed to beat Lavos at the first encounter anyways?

    (When you're supposed to lose)

New game+. Can kill it easily at 99.

If you want to kill on your first play through, you will need to do some massive grinding in the ocean palace.

    [edit]

...and ports suck. As much as I love chrono trigger, I've no interest in it. I would rather just pop my old snes cartridge if I wanted to play it again.

It'll all depend on how well they make use of screenspace on the touchscreen.

If it's anything like FF3/FF4 where all the menu options (Fight/Magic/Item/etc) are tiny as all hell, it'll be annoying as fuck to try and play touchscreen-only.

At any rate, I'm curious as to how they'll be making use of the DS features. I'm hoping for a proper conversion and not tackled-on additions that render themselves useless.

One of my shining moments in CT on the PSX versions was when I barely leveled/did any sidequests and beat the game normally with my standard Crono/Marle/Ayla party, and then I went and beat the game again instantly in NG+ with just Crono and Marle. Was challenging, but very fun. God, I can't wait to play this again

does anyone remember the parade when you start the game? where you accidently warp through time via lucca's machine? and there's that training robot, the drum pink thingy... yeah. i fought that dude enough times with crono and marle to get a lazer katana or whatever you could get with 100(300?) pts... or something like that, i grinded so fucking hardcore lol
