I'm a tad confused about the use of Haste+ in the leg slot myself- so for lullabies I should be focusing on lowering the recast instead of accuracy?

At the moment I'm 5/5 on Lullaby Recast, and my macro set for Foe Lullaby is:
    Apollo/Staff Strap/Mary's
    Marduk/Wind Torque/Musical/Loquacious
    Marduk/AF+1/Balrahn's/Nereid
    Jster+1/Steppe Rope/Af+1/Goliard

I'd be better off (for Einherjar and anything where spam sleep is needed)with:
    Apollo/Staff/Mary's
    W.Turban/Wind Trq./Musical/Loq.
    Marduk/Sha'ir/Balrahn's/Nereid
    Jester+1/Swift/Barbarossa's/Rostrums

then? (I don't have Byakko's and don't do sky, but I do have Barbarossa's, which are 2% less)

I don't have a problem making a macro like that, but I've always geared for accuracy, and in the off chance a Lullaby doesn't land, usually a Horde (which is the same macro as the first, but with Nursmaid's Harp, String Torque, Angel's Ring, and Relic+1 legs) will stick or afford me enough time to get off another Foe before things get too hairy.

(I'm currently working on Omega ring atm for the 2nd slot, and plan on working on a pair of Sheikh Gages, but that's still a bit of a ways off right now. 1 stingy rampart drop away from Shalwar as well :<)

The short answer is: it depends (otherwise know by the moniker shit is situational).

I have Ghorn so I can cheat a bit more than most.

BRD sleeping gear is analogous to a melee's accuracy gear. What works in one situation isn't the best for another situation. Just like for melees, once you're reached max accuracy, anything higher is superfluous so you might as well lose the excess and reduce your recast. For example, in pre-gjallar XP, I found that sleeping puks was easier than sleeping skoffins which was easier than sleeping mamools. Also, when you're exping on birds, horde is effectively useless and I don't find that they resist lullaby significantly so I'll stick with max haste for sleeping them. We also know that undead very rarely resist lullaby and we are either helped or hindered by weather effect (i.e. temenos or dynamis) so you can adjust gear accordingly. I played around with a LOT of different gear set combinations to try to figure out what the "best" sleeping gear was and ultimately determined that there wasn't one.

What I'd recommend is playing around with your gear to figure out where you feel that balance is met between recast and accuracy and making a few different lullaby macros for whatever situation you're in (ideally something that's easy to change in your macro pallet - e.g. BRD_lullaby_1 vs BRD_lullaby_2) You can even mix and match them for something like XP and make 4 lullaby macros with diffferent gear associated with them and use them situationally (e.g. using haste for hording a bunch of puks vs high skill/CHR for single sleeping a mamool etc). The level of customization is really up to you. One thing I never take off for Lullaby though is Sheikh gages, -4 off of recast is just too good to lose imo.

Yeah my set-up for meriting is completely different as I'm usually /nin whereas just about everything else I do I'm /whm.

Hmm. Thanks for the advice. I'll have to mess around with my macros a bit tonight and play with some different set-ups. :3

In most situations, lullaby in dynamis is just annoying as hell because it cockblocks sleepga1 and doesn't last as long, random mobs wake up early, etc.

Save it for a few seconds after the pull reaches you in case sleepga missed a mob or two, or your sleepers are just slow/afk and can't handle it themselves.

... or if your mages don't understand the concept of stacking sleeps and just open with sleepga2 anyway. In that case, lullaby away.

^ This, I hate when some brd hits everything with horde, 0.5 secs before sleepga I goes off. Not only does it cockblock my 60 second sleep, but it also gets me hate on mobs I didn't sleep and therefore I don't get a message when they wake and come running to eat me up. QQ

Ditto. I bitch at our RDM for not sleepgaing stuff, then I see a bard roll in and cockblock their sleepga anyways.

That's a good point for me to remember. I'm trying to download 3+ years of dyna experience to a new group but I only played BLM a couple of times.
