i say mind your business. yeah you're in a pretty shitty situation but it's not your life to fuck up. if you really have to say something, tell the third girl about the long-term relationship. i'm guessing she's just in it for some fun and won't really care either way.

if you've already told the cheater that you disapprove, then leave it. of course i'm assuming you like them both equally, and are enjoying the living arrangements, etc etc. 5 years is quite a long stretch to live with another couple so i'm guessing you do.

intervening is going to look like taking sides, and you'll lose one of them. probably the other through association as well. yeah, it sucks, and you'll feel you should do more as their friend. but el cheato shouldn't have placed a friend like you in that situation in the first place.

I liked this reply because it's very much how I personally feel. You seem to have taken everything into consideration that I'm forced to, however it's still hard not to feel guilty by association; letting it happen, so on and so forth.

Anyway, it sounds like you know what you're going to do and don't want to admit it to yourself (which is stay out of it, because it's the safest way for you to avoid conflict, even though it may not agree with what you think it 'right' or 'ideal').

Yeah, if you confront them you may lose one friend, but do you want to have both of them as friends when one of them is okay with hurting the other so deeply? Unless of course you tell the other girl and she's fine with it, maybe they'll work it out.

Shit like this doesn't just go away, it's vitriolic. Imo you’re doing them a favor by having them work it out now or break up, rather than it coming up in another 5 years and ending their relationship with those additional years wasted on each other.
