I really hope you don't think they'll actually give these a rage timer. . .
I truly believe adding rage timers is the only change SE will make.
There is a chance they will do the right thing and actually make these monsters beatable, and I'll have to eat my hat, but as a pessimist I am rarely unpleasantly surprised.
There's a difference between pessimism and stupidity.
Pessimism says, "The adjustment to the difficulty won't be enough."
Stupidity says, "They got in trouble for fights that are too hard, so the adjustment in difficulty is to make them harder."
They flat-out said there will be an adjustment in difficulty. It's not a "We're making the fight's shorter onri" statement; it's a "Oh man, we're getting bad press and need to change it quick!" statement.
Or Pessimism says "They got national news for allowing players to endanger their health, so they'll limit the fight win or lose to an hour or two."
Stupidity says "I don't agree so you must be stupid." Really there's no need to go there.
They did not say the adjustment in difficulty will be in our favor. You don't have to think I'm right.
Btw, they're not gunna have a video unless they made one 6 months ago (3 months before znms were added), cuz that's how long it took them to shit out the AV video, iirc.
Soo..... this thread should be locked.
So, someone necro'ed a two-month old post just to let everyone know that they're going to pop PW after the Sept. update? You're special, unique, etc.
Then someone else believes that SE is retarded enough to simply add a rage timer as a solution to all of this, even though the SE update specifically said the difficulty is being addressed?
I want my IQ back.
IBTL
i believe they're going to give PW an ability to delete accounts permanently after 10hrs of fighting. it sounds like a pretty "decisive outcome" to me.
They may make them easier, but don't forget this:
But considering that this was the company that after around a year and a half of people complaining that AV was too hard responded by creating a cryptic video that helped absolutely no one, would anyone here be even the least bit shocked if they did not actually made the battles easier? It was for this reason that previous measures were put into practice which prohibited NMs from being held in battle for prolonged periods. In response to these events, we have determined that further alterations are required to prevent such battles from exceeding a certain predetermined length of time.
Very much so. They're caving to the media attention, and if their response is essentially a "Fuck you" to the playerbase along the lines of a rage timer, its going to be an irresistible story for the gaming media to report on.
I would absofuckinglutely be surprised.
Either they are making them easier or making them harder and there is no reason they would make them harder at this point. The rage timer thing is a wacky theory, but the only thing definitively stated is that the degree of difficulty will be modified.Included in the version update scheduled for early September will be modifications to the degree of difficulty of Pandemonium Warden (and associated pets), Absolute Virtue (and associated pets), and Jailer of Love.
As much as I am doubting that SE would install a rage timer into this NMs, I just can't shake the feeling that this is the company that giveth with one hand and taketh away with the other.
I don't think the rage timer is a wacky idea, SE as much as said they were adding that in the update notes. Why else would they refer to adding rage mode to existing monsters? The same note says not that AV and PW themselves are too hard, but that the methods used to weaken them are too difficult. They go on and on about not wanting extended battles, wanting an outcome in a shorter time, and never actually say anything about this being a positive change. They were deliberately ambiguous about that. They're worried about being sued when some poor kid plays himself into a coma, and rightly so.
The sentence about about adding rage timers could be construed as expanding only upon the one immediately preceding it, regarding the development team's desires with respect to time and effort in encounters, and not the notice in its entirety. "Just as we, the development team, felt that watching a LS hold Fafnir for 18 hours constituted an excessive amount of time, so too is fighting Pandemonium Warden for such a prolonged period." An identical remedy needn't apply to both.
When PW and AV don't die after 18 hours, I don't see how making them stronger after a certain period of time is supposed to help things.
