PoL wont boot FFXI

So I just got a new lap top and installed ffxi onto it. It all went smoothly until I try to hit play in PoL to launch FFXI, it does the normal turn to white, check for updates, then blacks out and closes. After that, instead of opening the FFXI window, it re-opens PoL. I don't get any error messages of any kind. Have never had this problem before. I've tried running it with and without windower, from PoL and FFXI shortcuts, and from the hard drive folder.

In case it matters my specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300
NVIDIA SLI dual Geforce 8600M GT with 512MB VRAM
3072MB SDRAM
Vista Home Premium

Trying downloading the Vista POL from SE's website?

I have already downloaded the vista PoL from their online site, but thank you for the response.

I also have installed a new driver software since I posted but that didn't help either.

Any more ideas will be much appreciated.

Have you made sure that your running PoL as administrator?

I am on the administrator account, but I didn't right click and hit "run as administrator."

Just tried it and it didn't work though.

I got it to work! I ran a file check through PoL and it found errors.
