We have a wishlist system in our shell, you only get 1 wishlist to use between all your characters if you have more than one. We only have one situation where someone could log their friend on to collect a drop, so we don't really have a specific rule on that at the moment.

We did have one shady ass person lie to us and say they were 2 separate people playing 2 characters on the same account before, so in that case we'd still make them share 1 list.

Add: We prefer that members don't share info to avoid possible drama, and honestly I have yet to see someone 2-box well. The only other person with 2 accounts that he could play simultaneously is too retarded to barely play 1 job correctly half the time, much less 2. I myself can do well enough to do ENM and shit but I try not to actively play both at the same time for events, takes away too much focus.

In any points based LS, dualboxed characters shouldn't both receive separate points, but instead the person controlling it should be awarded points for attendance with either char they control has access to the area that the event is taking place. Jim takes a break, and John is playing on any character, only John should receive credit. If Timmy and Jimmy share an account, and only one of them is ever able to log on to FFXI ever, then whoever is controlling the character being played should earn the credit.

If someone logs in to try to earn credit for someone else, then they should be reprimanded or kicked. If someone is found to log onto a character that doesn't belong to them for the purpose of lotting something without prior permission/knowledge from the officers (collectively) or leader, then they should be kicked/reprimanded. The earning of an item for a senior member should then be allowed if they ask ahead of time and cannot make it to the event. This can work for senior members who's schedules change under circumstances beyond their control. For something like Dring, Herald's Gaiters, etc., and similar big ticket items, that should be up to the officers and leader to agree collectively if someone absent (NOT ONLINE DURING THE FIGHT) should be able to earn those.

In an auction/points based LS, if the person owns both characters and plans to attend events on those characters, then its ok to allow the person that owns it to lot items on both. That person has to work much harder by attending more events to earn points to gear up both characters than someone who owns 1 char to earn what they want.

For people that share a single account, they should be able to be allowed to be logged in if they are senior members to lot items they earned because its currently impossible for more than one char to be logged in at the same on a single account.

Edit: and no, no one should receive double credit ever for attending events with multiple characters. That's unfair.

Slight off-topic and slight on-topic... But the best part of dual boxing lately is definitely increasing the zeni you can get per hour by a factor. ;o Syl and I hit as high as just short of 10k zeni/hour of work using the shitty camera, between 5 people. (obviously taking 20 pics each)

Working on a 6th! Since having 5 is one short of an even amount to build T4 sets without any repeats. At that rate with 6 people and a good mob, we could essentially get enough zeni for a T4 set every 2 hours. Other people in the LS are doing/starting to do the same too, and now we have a shitload of upcoming T4 sets.

I wanted to try this, but only 1 of my 3 characters has enough space to hold 10+ Soul Plates. :/

If two characters are on the same account, but not controlled by the same person, they both have to apply and get accepted to my shell. They have separate points and whichever is present gets a point. It does not matter who is controlling it. The exception to this is when we request them to log in the other account. They are then allowed to log out and back in to lot on items they would have been entitled if they were on their own account (had we not asked them to switch).

If someone is dual-boxing two characters that they own, they get single points in their name. They can use these points on either account, we don't care. They earned them same as anyone else (more-so if they always play two people for us). If someone is using another LS members account, they just get their points and get to lot for their own account. The other LS member can only lot (using their points still), if they informed leaders what they wanted prior to the other member logging them in, and no present members wanted that item. They can freelot items, but only if no others do.

When I still played I had played two characters as my "main" for 4yrs.

Every LS I was in treated both of us as mains. If I wanted to bid on an item for my 2nd character I could. Or my 2nd char was considered a main when it came to awarding items in the one non-point LS I was in.

Policy on this should vary person to person. In my case the 2nd char was mine that I had lvl'd, not some inherited character or a "friend", and I played the 2nd char nearly full-time at every event. In my case I think it's fair to treat a person as having double main characters.

There's no advantages, only disadvantages really, you get the same amount of loot but have to split it between two characters. You also have to do double the work getting access to everything and have to do a lot more at events.

One of my best friends in game is an amazing ninja and has, since I've known him, been levelling a taru RDM. The RDM has been 75 for a a while now and even when he's main-tanking or co-tanking or kiting, his rdm is so incredibly active. He keeps refresh and haste on his nin/drk and my pld/nin, and sometimes I can't believe they're the same person.

Neither of his chars ever 'tag along' for backup, if they're there, they're usually both in the main-tank party. He can be casting ichi on nin and refreshing my pld at the same time.

He's not just a refresh or haste tool, I just know when he's in the party, amazingly, he can handle the buffs as good as any ... single-wielder... lol "two-hander" and better than most. His enfeebles and nukes are great because his gear is great. It amazes me that a great rdm is handled so well, off-hand.

That's the good side of dual-boxers.

But then, a friend needed Raise II, and sch had just gotten Raise II, so it was bought off the ah incredibly fast. This ... tri-wielder pops up and offers to help me get it for him. He brings his thf/nin, drk/nin, and nin/war. I bring my own drk/nin and off we go.

Early on, picking a chest, he gets his thf cursed, and the curse stays forever.. His drk/nin got hate, fell to 500 hp, and just as I'd got hate on my own drk/nin, this guy souleater-guillotines. Hp fell to 250~, and the mob crit'd him for the kill, I almost died laughing. His thf tries to flee away from some agro, still cursed, fails and dies, and his nin is mia.. Suddenly dead, got agro, and mijin gakured. I realized long before this that this is enfail. I offer to drk/whm and raise him, he says thanks so I head off. I cast Monomi: Ichi and Tonko: Ni and the log says

    "..."
    "what was that?"
    me "what"
    "that monmi thing?"
    me "... ninjutsu sneak lol"

I laughed and laughed, that guy could barely handle one char, should never tri-wield, and not knowing what monomi was, after it'd been out at least a few weeks or month, I have to wonder how he obtained those accounts.

Interesting idea for a topic XD I've been playing two charas for little over three years now and this is how it's been for me:

    1. My current linkshell does not allow double points for the same event; however when scouting for ToDs (placing one character at say, Valley of Sorrows and another at Behemoth's Dominion), points are awarded for each ToD. Same for overlapping events (ie Group is in Limbus and Cerb or Tiamat or another nm has popped)

    2. Points are awarded to who is playing the character, not the toon itself.

    3. Our LS allows proxy bidding, so a friend logging in another character to lot an item is allowed, as long as they're not from outside the ls and they have the points to bid. If the friend participates in the fight with said character, then the friend gets points. If they are just there to bid/lot an item, no points awarded.

    4. In most cases, yes.

    5. Jim gets the points.

    6. Never had this happen, but I'm assuming it wouldn't be pretty once leaders found out >.>;

for me don't consider any presence for the second character, unless the linkshell was
short on a certain job that run, then points will be given to the other character otherwise nop.

in case someone has 2 character, both characters will share one points slot and you spend the same points for both character. dunno think it's fair ^^

I often dual box a character that my old roomate gave to me. It has 8 level 75's including a ton of end game gear. I also have my main character which has 4 level 75's. I could have easily just retired my character and used hers, but I still want to do everything on my own. I never ask to lot gear for her, as it's pretty unfair to lot things for both characters. I was told I could choose one or the other, which is more than fair in my opinion. Why should someone get to lot double the amount of stuff, just because you were lucky enough to get another character, or whatever.

People masquerading as somebody else though is complete crap. If I found out the person was pretending to be someone else, they would be kicked from the LS immediately, if I were a lead. You should not also get double points for dual boxing. People whining about that are just plain moronic. you could just as easily NOT dual box, and there is no problem.

(Good) 2 boxers do twice the work of everyone else. Especially when needed.

I 2 or 3 box daily. I love it when people bitch about it and I respond with "NP. I'll just log them out and we'll be short 2/3 great and well geared characters." People usually shut up shortly after that.

In my Dynamis ls, 2 boxed characters get 1/2 the points main characters do, and in most my other ls's they are treated the same just as if a main character.

Plase again note this only applies to people who can do very well at multi boxing.

In my LS, dual boxing is considered a skill, If you can do it, you better do it right. I have my main character, 75 Warrior and 75 Ninja, and also have access to a Multi 75 mage account. My LS is low man, usually about 6-7 members on for events, including 1-2 players with PLD or NIN at 75. Depending on the situation, I will use the other character instead of my own, or if the situation calls for it, I will dual box.

    On to the OP,
~Do you give dual boxed people points? No, The Dual-boxer gets the points on their account, none of that double point bullshit.
~Do you treat them as though they're there? We have not come across 2 different players with 1 person DB'ing them, but no, I will not.
~What about players who share accounts, not playing their own account but their friend's so friend can get an item if it drops? If it is deserved, and points allow, then yes, a different player is allowed to log and lot for them.
~What if someone is dual boxed and they're up for a drop? Do they get it? Depends, My co leader and I have yet to cross this bridge.
~If John takes a few months break but Jim plays his character, who gets the points? Jim, John, as stated, is on a break, with frozen points.
~What are the consequences if someone has been "RPing" as the person who owns the account, but isn't the original player and is discovered? The RPer will loose 75% of his or her points.

I had been avoiding this topic for a while, but I felt I should post about my own experience.

Since moving to Korea, my schedule is quite different than many of my old friends. I joined a new Linkshell about a year ago that runs very late US time, which is afternoon over here. My husband has a full time job, and so cannot attend events with this linkshell except on weekends or days off (I am at home with the kids all day). Over this last year or so I think I've gotten rather good at dualboxing him, and yes he does get points for most things I bring him to in addition to my own points.

Many events call for his as Thief TH4 and me on one of my jobs (WHM, SMN, BRD), and really both characters need to be there for different things. On sky gods, Jet will open SC1 and Feint it, Mug, then disband. I will then cure and whatever else for the rest of the fight. Farming Diorites and Waters obviously needs TH4, and he will pull things like Zipacna, Mother Globe, and Faust for the group. In Dynamis Jet is main puller and I usually am my alliance's main healer. I do MUCH more work than most other people by playing both characters, and whenever I ask about the points situation I am told that I deserve points for both characters for the extra work I do.

The only exception we've made is for Kirin's Osode, which is given to members via lifetime points earned. Jet has passed on the Osode until if/when he lvls a job that can wear it (yes, in my shell you can get Osode even if you can't equip it). Several people below him on the list have already gotten it, and many more will get it before he has time to lvl a job to regain his place in line for it. I got my own Osode several months ago.

    Really there have been very few complaints about Jet and I both getting points when I am controlling both characters. We are not gear-whore and really have not gotten all that many drops for ourselves before other members who have similar attendance. Hell, Jet really doesn't speak all that much even when he IS home, so sometimes people have to specifically ask or be told it is Jet playing for them to know it's him ^^;

    1~ no
2~ not really. useful for brds just doing marches or ballads for low manning stuff or a thf that hangs out with th4. start treating them like they're there and u start expecting them to do shit. they can free lot the shit we cant even sell or something but nothing beyond that.
3~ in sky ls sure. i dont care if someone is using up their points, points gonna need to get used up somehow. any other hnm drop no way (unless its something stupid like aegishjalmer or z.feet)
4~ situational. if that said person was always on paladin and they're the last person waiting for m.body (or something else we're maxed out on) sure thats fine, as long as that person plays a lot.
5~ jim gets participation points. john gets jack shit
6~ like if they sold their account? i can check e-bay, thats kinda obvious they'd get kicked quick. if they "gave it to my brother, cousin, dog, etc" they can hang out but i'd reset their probation.
if this is like situation #5 where these two ppl are in the ls and are try to pull a fast one, thats real dishonest. i'd either kick them both from the ls, or put 2 month lot-blox on them (which usually makes them leave anyway). this is a nice example of why i hate irl couples playing together.
