Wait, Microsoft announces a game that was already coming out on PS3.
PS3 trades punches as far as multi-media goes... (hello TV and movies from PS3 to PSP!)
Then PS3 drops a MMO-Shooter that will have 256 players, and Microsoft is the winner?
At least Sony didn't leave me pissed off like Nintendo.
MS wins for the WTF?!?11 factor.
Edit at above me: you have to pay to download the stuff, not subscribe, and you have to pay a lot for what you can spenda few dollars more to physically own.
bah should have close with GoW3 trailer instead of that MAG shit. I was hoping for more PSN stuff like more ps1 games.
Yeah. They have the ability to speak on stage and have the presentation down pat, but they need to work on actually bringing more than two games worth of content.
Unless you live your life sucking off SquareEnix's tit (which apparently a large majority of the people here do), I think Sony definitely had the best presentation.
Maybe that quick scene of Eternal Sonata serves as confirmation that the PS3 port will get a NA release..?
Well they did have the best presentation because Sony is good at making things look pretty, but they didn't have really any playable games there for us to see like Microsoft did. I don't care about the lack of SE content because TGS is generally the place where they do that sort of thing anyway. Meh.
Just from gauging comments here (at work, didn't see any of the pressers), Sony destroyed E3. MS put on a lame presentation with one giant bombshell that lasted about 2 minutes. Sony went for over and hour and a half with very few people saying "this is lame", "when will this end". Still wanted some damn RPGs for the PS3 though.
Was kinda of hoping Sony was going to make a big fuck you announcement to Microsoft but whatever....MAG looked cool
Again, I don't think just because we didn't see SE here, it doesn't mean we have nothing from them at all. TGS 2008 is going to be where we see SE's content, not at E3. If E3 were still E3 of old, sure.. maybe we'd see awesome RPG stuff, but not anymore.
PS3 needs to sell more units before jRPGs are gonna get up again. PS3 (and xbox360) dev costs are really huge- in the range of 10million dollars if not more- and RPGs individually tend to be niche titles even if the rpg fanbase is large, simply because of the time investment per game and how rpg fans often have specialized tastes. It's a matter of finances- you need to sell a lot of games to make up that 10million then turn some profit, and the platform with more users is generally gonna help you achieve that. but we're seeing stuff where jRPGs are still being made on playstation....2. it's kind of disheartening in a way.
Gotta wait for TGS for the real announcements :D
Or just own them both like an awesome person.
Srsly
And I am so fucking redeemed. This is exactly why I never buy systems for what i think is coming, but for what I KNOW is coming or already out. Even so, I would never have imagined it either.
Overall weak E3 for me though. No RPGs I didn't know about, no Pikmin in sight and a meh feeling from AC, and no Wii storage solution or BC from Sony, stuff I was actually expecting! Oh well, if FF13 ends up being real fun to me and not another FF12 I think M$ saved me ~300 bucks. :3
