E3 is dead to me
You said it was free, it isn't is all i'm saying. Ok, let me get this straight a 5 person mode in gears that no one played is instantly good. But a 30x30 squad based team battle in R2 that people have played and written preview for is unproven? Sorry Just don't understand your point. Ill give you KZ2 we don't know that much about there developer demo's and we just learned about the multiplayer. But I just don't understand how everything gears does is proven great while everything else is unproven (even though we got previews). Massive player battles have been done on PC games for a LONG TIME and were fun so why couldn't they work on consoles?
O and if riding this brumak is like driving that stupid truck in the first one, can we really be excited? Cause that was the worst part of gears 1.
Why do we keep comparing FPS to 3rd person shooters? Arguements were much more fun we when compared the uncharted to gears .
So I take it there wasn't a Zone of the Enders 3 hint, or anything? Fuck...
No ZoE3? Thanks for failing Konami. D:
i'm kinda skeptical about the netflix stream thing
i got a netflix account, and it already has streaming movies on a PC, only that all the movies available for streaming are really crappy ones nobody care about
is this deal with microsoft going to enable their entire dvd library for streaming? or is it much the same as it is now? because for the big blockbuster movies to stream through netflix i would expect to hear deals signed between netflix and the movie studios besides their partnership with microsoft
and if it's much the same as what you have now streaming on the pc, there's really nothing at all to be excited about with the 360 having this service
The only problem I have w/DLing movies off of XBL is the sound quality. Yeah it's great that netflix is teaming up w/Microsoft so you can get netflix movies via XBL, but if the sound quality sucks compared to even a DVD (like dl'd movies do), then I'll still wait an extra day to get the movie in the mail. I dunno, maybe PSN's 1080p movies will play real HD quality sound, but again... I doubt it.
TV shows idc about, I'll watch them over XBL anyday. But I've yet to stream/dl (On Demand, XBL, ect...) any movie onto my TV that left me not yearning for that real DVD/Blu-Ray quality.
The hell are you talking about? Why do you need people to tell you about their gaming experience for you to be satisfied?
Which PS3 games have been touted for potential? Little Big Planet? MAG? graphics? you can't tell me they don't and so far they have yet to disappoint. PS3 graphics have lived up to this potential judging by the graphics of PS3 exclusives compared to 360 exclusives.
When developers approach games from a new area it deserves to be touted for potential because it simply has it.
If you've seen some of the Killzone 2 gameplay release a lot of it has lived up to expectations pre launch although some of the animations were a bit goofy but nothing that can't be easily fixed.
Your little comment about 2-3 years is just reeking of bitterness.
I'm saying 30vs30 is unproven because people don't even play it in Warhawk. If it was so integral to online gaming, don't you think titles like UT3 would have had it already? People always here big numbers and assume it's fun, but when it comes to competitive online play, people always flock to the smaller traditional match types.
And if the unlimited 5 player horde mode is anything like the Mansion level in gears, it will be epic. It's sort of like the 100 level challenge thing in DMC4, only it's survival with 4 other people.
There really weren't any new titles in this E3 we didn't already know about, excepting some of the casual game shit and I guess GTA: Chinatown Wars? Everything else was either expected or already announced beforehand
edit: I swear this thread has turned into a new console wars thread or something; it's like everybody minus Wii owners is fighting over which console is better instead of actually talking about the conference
Heavenly Sword showed potential. Lair showed potential. Potential doesn't make games fun is what i'm saying. Just because games are pretty doesn't mean they're going to be fun. I thought we learned this already.
And to be fair, I'm not bitter with everything Sony. Just their shooter front.
Ratchet & Clank and LBP are both great Sony titles.
Even compressing them with lossless formats, the files would be really big. Which would be a no-no when it comes to downloads, unless we lived in a utopia with T1 lines, or fiber optic, parading around naked w/o a worry in the world.
PS: HD => 720p resolution. Meaning that you can have a shitty movie i.e. downloads, and upscale to that resolution. Hence, it ain't real HD.
It was fun while it lasted, but ultimately I wouldn't call it a good game for how short it was. It didn't live up to be the epic adventure that Sony hyped it up to be. It had a lot of potential that wasn't realized.
There is your problem bud, online gaming isn't always about competition. What happened to playing online because its fun? Consoles games are far behind PC when it comes to more player due to there power of the system, i'm sure you understand this. This is why I said PC games have been doing it for years, UT3 is a step down from its other games. There used to be massive 30x30 Quake 3 arena matches on the PC that where hell fun 10 years ago, massive player battle is proven to be fun and isn't that the underlying point? Online isn't always about waving your virtual dick around.
Competitiveness and fun are not mutually exclusive. Call of Duty was 4 one of the most competitive online games out there, but it was also deemed one of the most fun was it not?
Never said they were exclusive but it most certainly isn't the all end,and COD 4 was said that on consoles but on PC Team Fortress 2 killed it and its not really know for its competitiveness.
Eh 10 hours on a non rpg game is a bit below average but I don't see how you can blame that on Sony but more on the developers for creating a short storyline.
As for Warhawk, if you played it on the first few months it was out it took a few tries to finally be able to get into a good ranked server because it was overcrowded. I don't see how the matches aren't epic just because you never hear about it, only thing that changed was more and more multiplayer games arrived so the servers so less people played it therefore there were no longer having 30 vs 30 matches all the time.
This thread is very rapidly turning into the Console Wars thread, where the 'nuh-UH' business about software nobody has played yet really belongs. Stop trying to one-up each other if you don't want Maxx's 'nobody wins the Special Olympics' quote to gain even more relevant context.
This predates E3 but the 'mechanics' video from E3 made me look it up again. SFIV's movelist has a lot of the new characters basically recycling the Ken/Ryu input list and almost every single super is done in the same way.

El Fuerte's movelist is a lot of mexican food names. Yup, just like real masked Luchadores.
