I personally believe there is a lot of truth to that. I mean there is no more shock value left at all, I watch average porn and fall asleep lol. The same goes for news stories and the vulture picture you posted, I glanced at momentarily it and was completely impartial to it and kept on reading the thread as normal.

I don't think I am heartless or a bastard at all though lol. Vultures eat dead and dying shit daily. I mean it leaves less room for the chance of disease and one less mouth to feed to an obviously food challenged family. Atleast that how my mind interpreted it. Natural selection at its finest, such is life I suppose.

Edit: Nystul made a really excellent point. If anyone recalls the news over the past week, there was an incident at a Steak house in California? Where a patron was choking on a piece of Steak and stood up turning blue, he said while choking he looked around and the entire restaurant and everyone just stood there and not one single person offered to help him. A moot point but NFL Tightend Tony Gonzalez performed the Heimlich(sp) on him dislodging the steak.

Even Gonzalez was like he was shocked that everyone "Fell silent and just turned around to watch".

Except that there was no way that either that black woman or that old man could point someone out to help them, they were both pretty much incapacitated, and also, i never said that people are more apathetic now, just pointing out the intensity of it.

About the whole desensitizing thing, I completely agree. It is the same with news...

"Four people died in a fatal car crash today. In other news, the Mariners won their game last night! Back to you, Tom!"

Well can you blame them? I mean the Mariners actually WON a fucking game! I'm surprised they didn't open the newscast with that story.

Am I the only guy who laughed when the security guard pulled up his chair to look then scoots it back?

You can only take this so far though. What's the count? Something like 100 people die every minute world wide? Can you really feel bad for everyone that dies? I'm not saying don't feel sorry for people that die, but at the same time four people dying on the news from something as regular as a car accident means nothing to anyone except those who knew the victims personally. Blaming it all on the internet is somewhat silly when you look at how vastly all media outlets have changed in the last 50 years. We're a death and violent obsessed culture, and the internet has only helped fuel the fire in desensitization, but I wouldn't dare say it's the sole cause and/or blame.

Edit* Kinda strung two posts together, but forgoet to quote the other >_>

I was being really vague when I posted what I said.

My point was is that there is a lot of controversy about the fact that news casters string stories together without pausing. They can talk about people being raped and such then move on to talk about a new car release without even blinking an eye.

I laughed more at the officer dumping the quadraplegic out of his chair asking him to stand up to be searched.
