SE reveals its E3 line-up

Oh. PS2 only had 1 RPG in its first two years too?

This is kind of a gripe of mine on both xbox and PS3. I mean, I do enjoy 1st person shooters, but come on... when half the games coming out for the current consoles are shooters (which should be left to PC where they belong imo), I begin to wonder if anyone out there is really trying to make a good game anymore. Shooters and fighting games seem like they're popular in the newer systems just because they're easy to make.

Is there any "traditional" japanese RPG on PS3 other than the amazingly crappy Enchanted Arms?

Was it the manufacturer I was talking about or the specific machine ?

Xbox doesn't cater to the RPG demographic? The 360 has the majority of the current generation's big RPGs..

The word was "traditional rpg" and you must have screw lose if you think anyone is not going to agree that Xbox or the 360 emphasis was to "cater" first to the main stream sports gamer and the walk around shooters.

Anyways my apologies for derailing the thread I had no idea some would find time to just crank on about the obvious that is being discussed across the web. Personally I cant wait to see Cecil remade in the Final Fantasy IV (DS), I enjoyed the total remake of FFIII on the hand held. One of my favorite of all times gets DS treatment too, Chrono Trigger ftw.

Dude, give it a rest. The reason ff13 is heading to xbox in NA/EU is squarely Sony's shortcomings in sales. Next gen games are huuuuuuge investments, especially final fantasies, which have development cycles of well over 2 years, cutting edge graphics, music, and voicework. SE isn't a business equivalent of EA or Activision or Ubisoft; they can't afford to risk as much and they also don't churn out bald-headed space marine FPS/rehashed music games/rehashed sports games every quarter to keep loads of cash flowing in.

ff13 is probably costing at least 10 million to make, if not 20. That's 330k units at-cost just to make up for production. 360 has a much larger NA base; porting it is very sensible for SE to have a successful return on their investment. Obviously Sony isn't putting enough on the table to keep SE exclusive, so you can't really blame 'em.

Nope, i got ranted at for my spelling so why would I read past your "dude" talk. You might have something great to say and I thought I did too, but this does not change the fact we must type and speak like college students for 'Xanthe'. So this further example of post that is grammatically incorrect has to be rewritten and posted again.

I have look more today in the RPG's on the 360 since last time I even thought about buying a game for it. I would say Microsoft has for sure turned around there output of games other than sports. I see that SE is really putting out a new game for both machines at same time called "The Last Remnant" that might be like the traditional RPG's in the FF series. Do we know the game play on that it one ?

All I'm reading is "I'm mad cause SE is doing stuff for X-Box and not PS3." The numbers make perfect sense in regards to why the X-Box is able to get these games. People in Japan will buy an SE product regardless of the system, though I do agree it's a bit short sighted to attempt to force the 360 down their throats to do it.

The same cannot be said for the NA and EU markets. Look at the sales figures for all the systems available. I'm fairly sure the 360 is beating them all in their respective markets. It just makes perfect sense that they would jump to the X-Box. It all comes down to numbers. It is a business after all.

Before you present an arguement you should probably get your supporting information right first, last remnant is coming to 360 first and then PS3 after, as posted in multiple threads. Save your time being a fanboy, just a small edit for your previous post

Only 10m? I remember reading 15-20m for FF8 many years ago, and FFX was over 30m. I would assume FFXIII is closer to 50m or something.

You're probably right. I just read an article in EGM recently about how tripleA titles in general cost at least 10m now (not necessarily FFs, MGS, Zeldas, etc- just any major release), compared to the 1-2m range of much of the ps2 years.

Sorry to throw my hat in the ring so late in the game, and for adding to the thread's derails, but honestly, I think the frustration with SE releasing on both 360 and PS3 is mainly due to the fact that the PS3, and honestly next gen systems in general, are failing to deliver in terms of RPG content. As someone said before, the 360 is putting sports games and FPS games (as it should, Xbox is generally more oriented towards those games, at least it was in the past). As for the DS, there are a large library of games out for it, though many of them are ports or remakes. And also, I would honestly rather play a console RPG than a handheld one, as nice as the handheld ones are to have. In summary, the PS3 just isn't delivering, and all the fans of Sony who expect Playstation to be the RPG console are severely disappointed, myself included. I may just be purchasing a 360, despite my hatred for the Xbox.

Also, to add to the anime rant that I realize ended a page ago, I think the main problem dubbed watchers have with sub watchers, and probably the reason for the nerd elitism comment is actually what started the conversation to begin with: people berating others for not watching subbed versions. I know I've been talked down to when I've said I follow an anime in the english version. Different people have different preferences, and if you expect a person to respect your preference you have to respect theirs in turn. Saying angrily your reasons why you think your preference is better after poking fun of someone who has a different preference is NOT respectful.
