So I recently hit the end of my 2 year. I'm looking for a new phone now (Within verizon). I'm pretty much set on the V9M (Razr2) so I can hack it. But I really want others opinions. So what are your suggestions (Can't be a smartphone qq)

After looking at VZW's current non-smartphone lineup, I'd probably go with the RAZR2 also.
unlock an iphone
or get a blackberry
I got a voyager and I love it
I'm on Cingular so I can't help you with the phone decision (although everyone I know on Verizon swears by Blackberry), but concerning your plan and swapping to a smart phone, that's is how I worked it out with my mother. I told her I'd buy my iPhone and pay for the extra charges monthly. Seeing as it didn't cost her anything and all, and she knows I'm good for my money, I got my request granted and got my phone the same day.
LG VX 8700, its a very solid phone, although its not a smart phone, it preforms very well, has great clarity and battery life, as well as expandable memory. I've had only one problem with my phone, and thats that the vibe motor went out so I have to deal with silent only or ringing only. I went in and my warranty expired 2 days before I got in =/. I can't say that verizon has anything in the touch department to match the iPhone. Most of their new smart phones are clunky, and very very touchy. EDIT: However, I managed to forget blackberries. Most of their phones are great, just stay away from smartphones other than blackberries or palm based ones, because the LG/Motoroloa/Samsung ones are shit.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll be doing some research on this. Hopefully I'll be picking up a new phone friday? Depends on how much time I put in.
krazers suck
Who said anything about KRZR's?

Unless you're talking about RAZR's and added a 'k' in front of it for some reason. If you're gonna bash something, at least know what you're bashing on.
How much more montly are the blackberry pearls? IIRC smartphones add something to the plan... Also can I add one if I'm in a family plan?
I just bought an EnV2 a couple weeks ago, I love it so far.
Env2 is nice if you text alot.
The dare looks OMFG good
I ended up picking up a BB Curve. Expensive but IMO worth it.
I just got a new BB curve for myself and the wife. I really like it so far. Are there any good applications that I should look into? So far I downloaded ESPN Mobile and AIM.
I work with cellphones at my current job. Out of the new stuff out currently, Id say ya the Dare is something to look into. Especially something outside PDA phones. Env 2 is good as well if you do alot of text, the Voyager and Glyde are soso (Glyde is better imo), but its worth a check.
I will have to say if you are interested in a smartphone you DONT have to get the data plan on most of the phones, you only have to get it if you want the "nice" price from certain stores. It is only the Blackberry's where you HAVE to get the data, I've tried personally to not have it for the customers I helped.
If possible if you can hold out (and willing to get the data for it) til whenever it comes out, there is supposed to be a Verizon only Blackberry Touchscreen phone coming out soon, when *shrug*.
All I can say for phones you don't want to get is probably the Decoy, it looks like a piece to me.
i have razr2. got it in nov. loved it then, easy to get used to . i noticed that i switched over from abc to iTAPen. my battery needs to be charged every night. everytime i jump in my car for more than 3min i plug in the charger. the biggest thing with this phone for me is lack of battery.
if you plan on USING this phone, for talking. your battery will die in 30min... since everyone in my family/all my friends are verizon anyway, i find i dont care about talk time.. so it dies.
i drove from cincinnati to long island today. battery died at the end of 12 hour drive.. about 10 txt's throughout and 35min of talking ? maybe i got a bum phone.. but i'd recomend to stay away from it.
