Im assuming, by 18 hours straight you mean:

- we fought bravely, intelligently, collectively
- we tried every trick, procedure, idea we could think of although we we're a little preoccupied by lack of sleep, WSs, lag, repops, frustration
- we lost lots of time, patience, and exp
- and that we know ALL their is to know about the NM in 18 hours and now hate this NM so much that we never want to do it again.

is that all correct? Im pretty sure I grasped your 18hrs thing. so here is MY point summed up in two, easy to digest, sentences.

Why are so many so up-the-ass-convinced that there is a trick to this NM? What evidence is there? A tingling feeling in your gut? Express your opinion all you want and that's fine, but the fact is that the only evidence we have points to this NM being just what it seems on the surface. And, if that's true, everything we're saying about it being a waste of time is 100% in line with what it really is. The evidence being:

- We know SE thinks it's perfectly normal for an NM to take up to 18+ hours to fight.
- We know the title theory, which was sadly one of the only 'tricks' people devised, does not work.
- We know the job theory is not possible, or anything involving building a 'special' 18-man alliance.
- We also know that there is obviously a reason for all those NMs to be located in that zone.
- The fight itself actually makes sense being as we described it. You start off with the real PW, fight all the kings/major mobs of ToA, and then you finish off on killing the real PW.
- No parts of the fight are broken or not working. Hydra, Cerberus, and Khim and all the others don't just all pop in succession in the middle of a zone for no reason whatsoever, they are programmed to be there and it must be for a reason.
- Weak evidence but did anyone even think of what the name means? http://dictionary.reference.com/sear...monium&x=0&y=0 ... Sure seems to describe that fight perfectly!

Everything worked fine... NMs have lots of HP, we had to deal lots of damage. It takes 18+ hours to deal the amount of damage this set of NMs gives you, while surviving at the same time. OH HELL NO THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!? DEAL DAMAGE TO REMOVE HP?!

I won't say that the idea of there being a trick or a shortcut is impossible, but it's not all too likely, or at least not anywhere near as likely as some people here seem to make it out to be. In fact I'd put the likelihood of there being some title/job combination/alliance build trick right up there with the first people yelling about ebon panels when people were gung-ho about AV attempts.

Checking his FFXI history, he's bought a single hi-reraiser med and no food as what appears to be a relic SAM and MNK over the last few days.

I don't know what kind of crazy LS would prepare like that for an unbeaten HNM fight, that regardless of what tricks there are would take many hours. So it looks to be far from the case.

Sure it could've been bought on another character, but still very unlikely. You can check the FFXI AH status of like anyone in my shell and you'll see what I mean.

Dude, no offense but nothing you have said is very witty.

I didn't say the mob was broken, it's completely beatable given enough time. And we're not quitting, but we are not doing it again for awhile, at least not unless someone else finds out something we were unable to. We're not so proud that we think our attempt was the only attempt worth noting, and I'm sure the LS' before us think the same. I'm very excited to see other people try it, and I hope something more than we were able to do comes from it.

But after that fight, I look at fights in MMO's like WoW, and I wonder...why can't we just have that communication and satisfaction with the game with SE? Why do they have to pull shit like AV and PW when the game could be much more enjoyable if instead of making long ass fights with no clues as to how to beat it, and keep us hanging for years they just make something challenging and fun that only takes an hour or so? I don't honestly know if this is Japanese mentality that you should forsake your health in order to win at a video game, I don't really understand it at all, and that's frustrating.

And seriously, a 53 PLD? I'm sorry dude but you haven't put the time and effort into leveling to 75...Why aren't you 75 yet? I mean if you advocate spending that much time and effort into something like this, shouldn't you have all your jobs at 75? What you're doing is called trolling.

I can't confirm or deny but I can tell you two things. 1. If anybody on the server got it first, it'd probably be Goodspeed or Juice. They have everything else (multiple relics, etc.) and 2. I saw goodspeed about 4 hours ago in full usukane. Idk about you, but if I'd just got that body, if I weren't /dance4 motion in whitegate for an hour, I'd be afk in whitegate.

Also, wasn't it Sundi that said AV should be like an 18+ hour fight before the ZNM system was released? Not particularly helpful but maybe the reason for having one mob transform into multiple mobs sounds like an attempt to teach the playerbase how long AV was meant to be fought. A lot of people gave up on AV because they couldn't get anywhere before dieing. This mob is probably just as difficult, but because each form can be killed, it gives incentive. When you go for 2 hours and AV isn't below 95%, you might give up (yes, I know this isn't the reason people give up on AV, but whatever the dev teams trick is, it only allows you to fight AV for 18+ hours according to sundi). You kill one form of PW after two hours and it feels like you're getting somewhere, even though you've put in as much time, damage, and xp as AVs fight. Again, I know it's probably all bullshit and it's a videogame anyway.
