I don't get into the culture, but I like their older stuff, and some of the newer material too.

The video for Helena was out-fucking-standing.
Come in, I'll give you the grand tour.
There's no reason for you to look closer
but you do so I show ya.
It ain't pretty here now
but it will be one day I promise
When the sun rays are honest.
I chip away at the tint on the windows
Stain on the glass is a pain in the ass
I scrape and I scratch till my arms grow weary.
Meanwhile I warned you not to stand near me.
I think I built the fence a little late.
The demons were already in now
they can't escape.
I been toe to toe with most of 'em though.
As a whole they must perish in order for me to grow.
Huddled in the gloomy little cracks that they inhabit
They pass away the day I deactivate my habits.
Each one gets buried in the backyard
in tiny little graves marked only by a black scar.
Kindly watch your step
The silence isn't finished being awkward yet.
Trophies lay in the basement to stay safe.
Today's mistakes are in a lighter trophy case though.
And I want you to know
I only invited you cuz I ain't thought you would show.
But I'd be damned if you ain't grab my hand
And presented yourself on the threshold of the heartland.
Are you here to confuse me
Are you here to confuse me
(I don't mean to confuse you)
(I don't mean to confuse you)
You'll notice antique swords adorn the walls.
They're really not here for decoration at all.
I save them shits from old relationships
and I swing em at you later if you stay in the mix.
Don't you realize nobody's really been inside here
Since it was last drenched in dry tears?
Decorating was a senseless idea.
Cuz only the blind lonely prince resides here.
We dine here on a balanced diet.
Ego when it's loud, self-hatred when it's quiet.
Inside the castle this is what the life is.
Sign here after you read the fine print.
It's not much but all of it's yours.
Take great caution if you want to explore.
Watch your head when you're opening the doors.
And always remember that the choice was yours.
And I want you to know.
That I only invited you cuz I ain't thought you would show.
But I'd be damned if you ain't grab my hand
And presented yourself on the threshold of the heartland.
tl;dr
"Emo lyrics", really good rap song.
I don't care if you write/compile an album about eating dog shit, if you sell millions of copies and strike it rich, you win good sir. I don't listen to MCR (but the Helena video came to mind as one of my favorite videos), but from what I read in the wiki today when this was posted, they seem to treat their fans really well (letting them be in videos). If you're not a pompous asshole and you treat your fans well (even if they are emo bitches), you're doing it right.
mcr isnt emo people need to learn their genres
yeah agree, but it's getting to the point where it's too much of an uphill battle to try and argue it, lol. first it's linkin park that's emo, then simple plan, then MCR, then fallout boy, then whatever else like plain white tees/boys like girls/paramore? idk. it's basically people trying to lump a vague fashion trend with often dissimilar music into "MTV-mo".
it's funny when you actually listen to the stuff that started emo, and the legitimate stuff that evolved out of it.
Give me a break, most "emo lyrics" are usually incorporated with some amazing 60 to 80s classics. Go look up some Johnny Cash lyrics and you could most likely confuse them with current "emo" bands. I think most of you are just riding off what YOU think the lyrics are instead of actually reading them.
P.S: Love the first MCR CD, hate the rest
Bands today aren't even close to on par with Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Jawbreaker, etc but what is it today is what it's become.
On the same token I don't think you'd look at Punk-o-Rama CDs and go "hey this is solid punk just like it always has been" but I wouldn't that is quite what the genre started out as either.
Damn, this sucks. I liked them to be honest.
Maybe not the Black Parade when they were all sober and stuff, but "Bullets" was a great fucking cd, and "Three Cheers..." wasn't bad at all. Maybe overplayed after well over a year of being out.
If it's true, RIP Gerard.
If nothing else, he showed me that Xanax + Booze can be fun.
I did that at a Tool concert. >.<
Sh, dont tell himm.
wow...
And for the record
Mineral > Sunny Day Real Estate.
totally
Man richy, I think we're the only two MCR fans though. Who do you think is going to make a tribute song for them?
Just another quick thing on here, supposing he IS dead (which is BS anyway) all of the people that hated MCR would be subjected to them moreso.
It's like Nirvana. Kurt died and BAM, *The band got shoved down your throat some more*
So supposing this were true, it'd be an even darker day for the MCR haters than it would be for the fans.
