haha, the only band that'd be fitting to make a tribute song would be The Used.

*waits for Sath to come forward*

    MCR is dogshit. Total dogshit.

Know it's a hoax and all, but I hope the lead singer has a horrible voicebox accident and the group is forced to break up.

Hey, maybe he'll get a Kraken Club out of the deal, so it wouldn't all be bad.

(Inside joke Asurans should get, which seemed quite appropriate)

Elliot Smith was emo before emo even existed. Made some amazing music.

I mean, the dude killed himself by stabbing himself in the heart ffs. Yeah, maybe the girlfriend did it, but murder charges were never persued, so what can ya do.

it's funny when you actually listen to the stuff that started emo, and the legitimate stuff that evolved out of it.
I don't like it when people mix a bunch of different bands together and call them one genre either. It's just as easy to call them all bad and leave "genres" out of the equation.

Stating your dislike for music so vividly says quite a lot about the person, for example:

    • Lack of musical knowlege.
    • Lack of willingness to accept other genres. (ties in with the above.)
    • Leads onto prejudice, generalisation and stereotyping of genres and it's listeners.
    • Eventually leads to irrational thoughts, irrational ideals, genocide and eventually, shooting yourself in the head in a bunker so people who don't listen to the same music as you can capture you and force you to see how much of a monster you have become. Okay scratch that actually.

But honestly, listen to something because you're interested in it, don't just shrug it off because you're a sheep whose playing to stigmas and prejudices.

I personally don't mind MCR, but not the new stuff. I don't mind a lot of emo, indie etc.etc. But that's because I gave it time, I sat down and listened to stuff I didn't think I'd like, just so I wouldn't get into the rigmarole of putting a tag on something just because I didn't know what it was.

Tl;dr: If you haven't listened to "emo" you have no grounds to slag it off.

That's what happens when teenagers confuse temporary moodswinging lifestyle choices with music genres.

I dont even care about the lyrics of any band, those are an after effect. The sound, beat, whatever you want to call it (aka the music) is my #1 importance. Next is if the vocalist is good, and how his voice sounds in general, and how it fits with said music.

I prefer deeper voices (im a hard rock and metal fan), but some higher ones are ok, using current bands as reference, see vocalists from Breaking Benjamin, 10 Years, Chevelle, etc.

Pop, punk, hip-hop, funk, soft rock, alt-rock and others along the same lines are all trash in my ears, usually due to a horrible beat, and vocalists that sound like whiney preteen girls.

I dont even really understand why people pay attention to the lyrics, the music is what makes music, it's just in this case MCR still sucks.

you say MCR sucks but like Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, etc- aka really fucking vapid, banal bands but they're acceptable because the vocals sound "manly" enough to you?

    Chevelle-oh-el.

Oh well, at least he didn't say he liked the soothing lyricism of Jonathan Davis or something.

As far as vocalists go, Claudio Sanchez takes the cake, followed by Anthony Green (Circa Survive) and Dallas Green from Alexisonfire / City & Colour.

If you can listen to Demolition Lovers and say you still don't like MCR, then Plain White T's is more your thing.

Chevelle's vocal's consisted of massiving amounts of screaming into a mic. They opened for a band I saw in concert, and it just hurt my fucking ears. I like metal/hard rock, but man...chevelle didn't fucking cut it.

    I like MCR, they're different

    I like this one: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=S5nw1-_5-Vk

Doesn't sound particularly emo to me.
