on the subject of vocalists, Paul Banks from Interpol is the shit.
Anthony Green is a pretty good singer, but I just can't get into Circa Survive, but The Sound of Animals Fighting was fucking great.
This thread needs less trashy bands and more epic bands, like say... Oasis and Radiohead. Btw, British rock > all else ;x
Because there are no good current bands, thats why I used the word current because it seems a lot of people dont remember Alice in Chain, Collective Soul and Sound Garden.
The Gallagher brothers can go suck a fuck.
I'd sooner listen to Billy Talent(less) than Oasis. Aside from "Fucking In The Bushes", I can't tolerate Oasis at all.
Radiohead, ehhhh... The Bends or Pablo Honey. After that, meh.
first sound of animals fighting is awesome lover the lord has left us notsomuch
there are a million good bands trixi they just dont get airtime
No, but very annoying.
This is true, biggest reason why I stopped listening to raido. Even stations that are supposed to be rock only tend to play the big selling pop songs, and none of the newer good music.
Great Maynard interview/moments from a few years back.

What he says about modern (at the time) / pop rock bands is great.
Man, I swear Maynard is bat crazy, but atleast he makes good music. Needs more APC![]()
no good bands i mean come on
so far this year:
new maps & atlases ep is perfect summer music
new guapo is crazy
new protest the hero is pretty good; touring with dragonforce had a definate impact
new mars volta was sweet
new deerhunter is excellent
kidcrash split with l'antietam is tight
new dillinger escape plan was ok; but they've done better imo
so far my favorite of the year is the new album by kayo dot which you can stream for free here: http://bluelambencydownward.com/

looking foward to the next 6 months!
Oasis is kind of a trashy band, lol. They put out a few decent albums but have been underwhelming as of late and yeah, the Gallaghers are cunts. They're never gonna be the Beatles, and that's for good reason.
radiohead is amazing though. you really can't take away from that. Pablo Honey is actually their weakest album imo. In Rainbows picked up the slack from the last album, and Bends/OK Computer/Kid A are untouchable classics.
and yeah, Lover the Lord has Left Us is an odd album but there are segments sprinkled throughout that are actually pretty good/interesting.
Edit:
and yeah definitely, lots of good bands making music now. I'm really lazy/bad about keeping up on what's immediately current, but in the past few years there have been a bunch of good bands putting out records:
radiohead
fall of troy
tera melos
explosions in the sky
interpol
my chemical romance
modest mouse (even if they're on a decline)
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, and panda bear too
bright eyes
crystal castles
justice
sufjan stevens
pinback
do make say think
the national
the strokes
the black keys
the locust
lightning bolt
etc etc etc
and that's not even getting into hip-hop or alt-country/folk, which has been really good lately too.
AFI disappointed me. I used to listen to them way back in the Black Sails days. Now they're the epitome of emoness. At least Davey.
First three Oasis albums were amazing.
WHO BROKE THE INTERNET HATE MACHINE?
I disagree about lyrics not being important, to an extent. In metal, there are very few bands that I think could pull off no vocals at all and it still be as good and recognized as they are. Slayer is one of the few bands I like where the vocals actually turn me off of the music, but I enjoy everything else about it. The bands you listed I don't think would stand a chance in hell without vocals, because there's nothing inspiring/invoking about how their music sounds. Of course this is strictly my thoughts as I'm sure some of the bands I'm about to list people will think likewise.
I think for a band to be able to stand alone without the vocals, their music has to be able to invoke some inspiration or some emotion just through the sound of their music. Bands like Minor Threat, Black Flag, Cromags, early Slayer and Metallica, Gorilla Biscuits all have intensity behind their lyrics just through music alone and it's powerful.
Basically anything I can listen to casually and not blink an eye or notice that the song is over I don't think would stand well alone. Music that can make you feel something, or makes you feel involved just by the sound of it is the only music that has the capability to stand alone.
Just out of curiosity, what bands do you define punk around that sound like whiny preteens? Most punk bands that I can think of right off the top of my head fit lower/deeper voices.
psyopus would better with no vocals
they ruin chris arps disgusting ability to play a guitar

It's hard to tell anything that's really going on in that video, except that I really hate that vocalist lol.
Wtf? you speak as if they are crapping albums left and right. Their last album was "Don't Believe the Truth" released way back in 05. Has a bunch of good songs like: Let There Be Love, Lyla, The Importance of Being Idle, etc. I'd agree it wasn't their best. Anyways, looking at your list explains it all lol.
