The limit on gilflow seems like a good idea.
The limit on item transfer seems complicated.

Lease sounds like an amazing idea. What would be even more fun would be a lease bazaar. Just set a price and a time and then go afk overnight and people can borrow your junk while you are asleep, and you have it returned to you when you wake up.

    What would be hilarious is if someone was fighting some crazy NM with a full set of leased armor and weapon when the timer ran out and they were suddenly naked ^^;

The limit on gilflow doesn't stop the RMT at all. They already use the trade system. It would only annoy people like me who transfer gobs of money back and forth between crafting accounts/mules.

Do you know how fucking annoying it is to transfer 5m from one character to another using the delivery system?

    one small step

one small step that would atleast narrow down the search for rmt and not hurt our bank account is to take the world transfer off pol. Make it where one would have to call it in to support center "which they would have to verify registration code and other information". That would cut down on all the cross server jumping slash and burning going on. It wouldnt be hard to add some sort of verification to pol for password changes. eq and eq2 you have to know the secret question answer to change password. These two precautions wouldn't totally stop rmt but If you were online when you got hacked like i was you could stop them.
I failed in my battle of the logins with the hacker, but if secret question was inplace my account would have been untouched.

i dont think you could find away to stop them totally. The art if rmt has been around longer than ffxi, and will always be around as long as two varibles exist. There is no way around these two variables, one that is willing to sell the gil for money, and one that is willing to buy the gil for money. Its just the how the gil is obtained that is different. the only way i could see it stopping if the punishment for buying gil was not worth it. Right now it is a if you get caught policy more focused on the banning of the rmt and suspending the gilbuyer. Say that if you bought the gil they banned you and all accounts related. then i imagine most players wouldnt buy the gil.

    but....

then there is the careful what you ask for senario. like on hades everyone that buys gil now has to farm it. all items cost prob would go down but then the avg player becomes no different than the rmt. overcamping of mobs, mob monopoly [ what i mean by this in areas like miser coast where you might compete with one rmt that is 60 with crap gear] we have eliminated rmt so no there are 10 well equiped 75s out there killing faster than you can target a mob.

to end my rant I would say a way to elimate the rmt is to introduce high dollar quest or items that sell to npcs for high dollar. maybe a mob that drops great gil and make alot of them and fast respawns. this would drive prices back up but.... would eliminate the need for rmt, this would set up a system where at least you would know that in a few hours i "could" have a mil gil farmed up. the current system is depressing 3 or 4 mil is like the pot of gold till you reach a certian level of access and ability in game. you farm days for what seems like scrapps 100k-200k. I make bulk of my gil selling cocktrice but you just cant kill them fast in the 60s and still at 75 all i can say is thank god i only need limbus, food, and tool money.

just some thoughts i was hacked 29 june 2008 while online douing with cousin. sorry didnt edit much about to get off a 12 hour shift.

The only idea I kind of like is the lease/rent idea with automatic item return.

They'd have to have a new flag on the item (like they do with Rare and EX) to indicate it's a leased item to prevent leased items from being sold to NPC or on the AH or even dropped. I can see some complications with doing this.

You also have to consider that a good 25%+ of the FFXI end-game population (at least on Alexander) RMTs accounts/items/gil all the time. It isn't always these low lvl mules, or chinese gilfarmers. It is a lot of the top-geared players (once again, on Alexander at least), and the lower geared players paying them with paypal to get those HNM shell only items. So while you limit these lower lvl people from trading obscene ammounts of gil; these established players have cheap, higher level accounts they are willing to risk for some quick cash. Why not, they just buy new ones if they lose the old.

Seriously, when you can have 4 accounts being played from the same IP address and SE only bans the one they catch doing something, this will never stop. There is no risk to the player wanting to keep his main account safe, so SE's attempts to ban gilbuyers/sellers, will always fall short.

As for hacking...that's all on the players side. Sure it's a bad system that doesn't require any check before changing your password, but that would only save the people that are able to log in right when they get jacked. They do not need to change your info to send your shit to someone else. So keep your shit safe, and don't give out your info or you will get your gil, items, sash, etc. stolen.

I heard that 82% of all percentages are made up.

http://www.alexanderdrama.org/index.php?board=2.0 go there if you wanna see it, I did say (on Alexander at least). You will probably need to register, but it isn't like this is something people are hiding you know. It is common knowledge, at least on Alexander.

I wonder how leasing would effect prices to buy gear. The ability to make money by simply holding an item would be interesting for the market.

SE would like to continue to get new players, not constantly restrict them from playing the game. These things will never happen. I really don't feel like leveling all my mules or my LS bank to a specific level to hold gil/items.

It's a horrible idea and you should feel horrible.

You do realize that some people have multiple accounts, and that their second or 3rd accounts don't have anything above level 20 (notice I said "accounts", not "mules.") Complete fail.

    Lease idea is OK though.

Sonomaa: If you read this thread, this is the kind of thing I was referring to on IRC the other day. I'd try to make it better, but I think we know what'd happen.

This is a really dumb idea unless they implement it at the same time as our 100 space inventory, 150 space Mog Safe, 150 space storage, etc.

Your idea to stop hackers would at best annoy the people hacking. Yeah, they'd no longer be able to bazaar them off of their 3 letter-server lv1 mules, but think about all of those dozens of RMT exp parties you've seen. If they want a lv75 char to trade items to, they'll either level it, steal it, or have one available already. Gilsellers and hackers arent just lv1 mules and lv20 miners.
