Didn't I suggest this very idea few threads back? Kekekeke Now to see if they'll implement Gardening Care Plans!
Ahhh I got you. I have a similar system here at work that nukes me via IM when a server is down or a RAID fails. At least you were heady enough to set it up that way.
I am still trying to figure out what was blocked also. Id like to know what this "suggestion" was also.
They probably identified a few IPs as the source of the mass hackings and banned the block permanently. Not a country-wide ban.
Would it be feasible to ban all known proxies, and add more as they find them?
It takes about 20 minutes to pay out for a VPS and have it set up, about 8 to install all the needed software to proxy all of your requests and about 2 to point your router to that server's IP to proxy the traffic. And depending on how many systems you're running, you're looking at ~$10 US/month with no setup fee and 50GB worth of data transfer/month (it may be $15 total/month for the 50GB and $10 for the 25GB, don't remember exactly).
So you're looking at cheap and fast setup...which means you can't keep up with the bans, period. It's even worse if they're paying out the money for use of any of the known bot-nets, or using IPs from abandoned or hijacked IP ranges.
I understand and respect the Chinese players that have no ties to RMT and are just your average guy trying to play a game, no matter how they started. But from SE's standpoint, and probably even China's, they aren't supposed to be playing. Up until now, neither SE nor China has cared enough to do anything about it. And until we find out what SE has up their sleeves, this might not affect them at all.
I think what Tankjr means is someone who started playing in the US, then for some reason or another, is now in China.
