From 13-18 you are allowed to play but you still need parental permission. Besides, bank debit cards, as long as endorsed by VISA or mastercard work, I know it from personal experience. Minors may not be able to get a credit card, but they sure can get a debit one.

Maybe they're just going to start IP banning people they terminate. So far, all they do is just lock out the account and ban that credit card number from being used again, right? Maybe now they just add every IP ever used on that account to the list of things they lock out.

I've been worried ever since I saw this message on POL, but I am fine here in Korea. Able to log onto all 3 of my accounts just fine and did Dynamis yesterday.

Technically, am I not allowed to play this game anymore from what you guys are saying in this thread? FFXI has never been released in Korea, and though I am a US citizen and playing US copies of the game, because I now live in a country where the game has not been released am I just supposed to stop? I even changed my credit card a few weeks ago to one that is based in Korea, and SE allowed the change. Have you ever checked the list of countries available when creating a new account or changing your info? The list is huge, and many many of them have never seen an official release of this game, China itself IS on the list!

I still have no idea exactly what they blocked from POL access, but an IP ban of a whole country (China) would inevitably screw a number of legitimate players and the RMT would be back almost right away, behind a fake proxy or simply from a new IP that is outside the range of the block.

Apparently someone on KI (Post #3591661) just stated his entire country got blocked from PlayOnline. The country is the UAE (United Arab Emirates), can anyone verify this?

That is not always a fair analysis. For example, I don't craft and I do not camp a lot. Yet, almost one year ago, one lucky BC60 and a sold kraken club later, I was 25 million richer. It's not hard to manage your money and keep up to date if you are careful.

Anyway, I heard from several people that used to get bored way back when in Ulli's Aery before the change that the RMT they were harrassing said they were from various places like Indonessia, Thailand, India, etc. It seemed to be a rather large number of them from there, too, so don't pigeon-hole China.

Maybe not, but SE is not obligated to support anyone in China, let alone everyone. Not even China allows them to play, but they do anyway because China doesn't seem to enforce anything.

Like it or not, legit Chinese players are screwed... well, they're not even technically legit, but I mean non-RMT Chinese.

I can understand not wanting to see non-RMT Chinese players get banned, as I know quite a few have made friends in the game, just like any of us. Not to mention that non-RMT Chinese players aren't particularly uncommon. But its not a matter of whether you have friends that would be affected, or they've never done anything wrong, or they're just trying to play the game in peace. It's simply a matter of them playing in a country that isn't supported, even if they started playing in the US.

However, we're getting ahead of ourselves with this argument because we don't even know if they're going to ban China in the first place.

I understand that side of it; I guess my post was more towards the people that are just all for banning an entire country because a lot of RMT is there. Indeed they would, since they released the game here, support us, do business here under our laws, have TOS terms worded to fit within our laws, allow billing here (I don't think they allow billing to cards with Chinese addresses), and IP banning us would carry a few more consequences than simply losing customers and pissing people off.

They can announce that they will no longer support the US, and that's fine, but there's certain processes they'd need to go through to do that, rather than just find ourselves IP banned one day.

China they can drop and not think twice.
