Shit yea I meant Campaign I guess they are just sort of similar and I forgot my retard pills today.
I get my points all from nuking the shit out of stuff. I guess being a SCH which is basically JA fest, helps in the points department too.
I used to go DRK/WHM and DRK/PLD because of it's near indestructibility and hax kiting powers, not to mention the combo spells like Absorbs and Drains. After they botched the pet damage thing i switched back to DRG/WHM and the points just started rolling in, especially after they started counting Pet actions towards the total XP/AN gained. Over the course of a battle my Wyvern restores tens of thousands of HP, and i use Barfira to trigger it so i'm hitting that Enhancing cap. Combined with all the abilities, Jump combos, the ability to take tons of damage and deal out tons of damage, i'm pretty much DRG/WHM exclusive now. Plus, DRG gets an easy out of any bad situation with Super Jump. XD
Ya know what I learned recently?
You can get Sigil and I believe evaluations in other towns if yours is under constant attack.
But still can't warp around from your home nation as much ;;.
Yeah, it's mainly handy for people like me, Windy present, HP at woods MH so > Walls > warp taru > port > saruta > saru [S] > waters [S] > Sigil > Port to Markets [S] which I'm allied with.
I was running to the OP to warp, and then decided to try waters cause I thought "shit, if I can buy AN items from all three nations, I bet I get Sigil too!"
Easier than trying to get it in Bastok sometimes, had a 2 and a half hour Campaign earlier . :D
Just noticed something: is it just me or do none of Bastok's dancers (aside from Sophia) use any dancer-type moves?
Pretty sure they don't. If they did, they'd live longer. Sambas & Waltzes might actually make them effective against the wall that is Gi'Ghi's ungodly troop.
not gonna lie, I've been /BRD-ing it up ever since I discovered this outperformed my level 75 SMN's notes rewards, despite me buffing huge amounts of players, NPC's, healing people, raising, doing BP damage etc
so yeah, I'm gonna keep doing it, sorry for your digital patriotism OP
that being said time versus reward is still a factor, as soon as my DRG could equip Armet at 60 I was out soloing VT's; my THF is now 62, sure as hell I'm gonna sub BST and go kill colibiri while I seek
I just did it while I seek, no negative XP loss, no getting whacked for 500+ or sitting there petrified for 80% of my time in Passhow [S], just straight gain, and I'll keep doing it til they 'fix' it which I hope they don't -- there are just some gaps in levels (BLM 40-44 for example) that are a pain to a) get a party or b) find a viable solo alternative
in closing, I feel OK with all this and don't feel I'm 'cheating' because at any given point, I know how to play my jobs, and play them well. Some people have very strong feelings about PLs, and you can see the calibre of terrible players TOAU xp has churned out, along with PLs, and many of these players can't seem to function without it
seasoned players like myself can take or leave these benefits and still turn around and be a strong component to any group, so relax![]()
That's OK, it's in the system as an option and people are going to do what they can to max out. S-E's planning the nerf bat for stuff like that, and till then there's plenty of folks who'll bring you monsters so you can help others. Heck, go SMN/BRD if you want to- run out, Pact, sing your little songs as you do, run back, detag, repeat. Just don't sit there like a bot spamming random melodies. I get this irrational urge to commit bardicide on any Neros I see.
I dunno, I see no difference between this and tailgating some JP's at conquest tally thru A01 or B01 or whatever for xp scroll, or escort quest etc
the people that abuse it though with no intent other than to run a script while afk from 1-75, that's not cool and obviously not what SE intended -- me on the other hand, I've got 5 macros of 3 songs (I've found that notes rewrd caps out at 150 for songs regardless of time, and seems to be about 10 additional for most JA's used, yay thf/brd) and I intend to use it while I can/SE neglects to fix it, since I'm actually at the computer the whole time while I watch anime
got a PT on THF today and [insert rant about teaching a SAM how to be 1st voke for no joke: 50+ mobs] I'm totally gonna get my quota taking thf to 63 to avoid going bald from ripping out my hair
I see what you're saying though, and if I felt this were up there with buy something from NPC and selling it back for more than I paid for it, I wouldnt be touching that with a 10foot pole (or account on the same credit card as my main lol >.>)
I got more points at 66 SCH using a Darksteel Baselard + enspell and just eating the occasional death which I might have avoided with stoneskin, than using my 75SMN.
It's a bit rubbish. I can buff and heal half the zone, have carby or other avatars attack but I'm better off meleeing on a mage job with an underlevelled dagger skill... Still it got me to 67 fast.
nothing makes me happier then when im in campaign on pld, solo-duo-trioing some mob and a whm comes over and starts whacking things with his kraken club and whm dd gear and refuses to cure who is tanking (me) then the mob turns around after I die and smacks the shit out of them. If you would have stopped meleeing for 3 seconds and cured the pld... youd be alive dumbass.
Best thing to do in that case is to literally stop hitting the mob. Don't Flash it. Just heal yourself and pop defenses as needed till it turns and beats the crap out of the useless WHM. Run the mob back in towards the main group for good measure. If you can't, just take a dive, RR, and remember to have a HP <hp>, {Help me out!} macro on hand. The sooner it eats the stupid WHM, the sooner you can get back to fighting. Just like Dynamis, a quick deliberate wipe can get you ahead if it's a no-win situation.
Super Jump, Super Jump, Super Jump...
Fun note: If you're fighting a monster in Campaign and someone trains more mobs onto you, wait until they're on the brink of death and Super Jump. As long as you're in the air when their train/mobs go passive, they won't link with your mob since while you're in the air, your mob has no target.
I've been camping a NPC to start a quest for 3 hours. It popped for 20 seconds but I missed him![]()
"Hey Mr. Taru! I see you're not scared to let these things hit you! We're going to spam you with Tp and try to kill you, we could cure you and make the fight smooth, but we wouldn't be able to afk if we did that."
'Fucking bitches... *grumble grumble*'
Box Step > Desperate Flourish > run off.
Best is if they autofollow the mob while afkish, and get kited through a newly spawned wave as mr gravitied turtle chases me all over hell and gone.
I finally snapped today and was pulling mobs to the /brds. I was mean too. They tried running away but I followed them with the mob following me. I won't be surprised if some of them made a GM call and get me suspended. Oh well. The ironic thing is I think I ended up helping more than hurting, 'cause I was pulling mobs away from defenders that were overwhelmed and some of my pulls were getting "stolen" by NPCs or players that were in a different part of town. It's not as easy killing /brds as I thought. You have to survive a long pull, make sure the mob is still following you and most important: die quickly. Ironically I wasn't dying fast enough so they sometimes had time to turn in tags ><. Learned another lesson, one of the /brds turned out to be a 75 BRD once and slept the mob, gotta make sure to keep DIa on.
Like the opening post, I too didn't really mind the /brds, but after a frustrating weekend of campaign I decided to take out my frustrations on them. I won't lie though it was fun and I don't really feel bad especially now that SE says /brds are bad.
