Today I saw a group of allied NPCs that had never actually been deployed to the area give the retreat message, and they retreated when no campaign battle was going on lol...

I don't know if this qualifies as an "epic" Campaign rant, but whatever...

So last night, I head down to West Sarutabaruta (S) to take in a little Campaign and hammer out the last couple k tnl on my SCH. As usual, it's the Capricornian Casters vs. the Divine Inspirers. Things go back and forth for a bit, but for once, there aren't too many CC casualties (mainly due to the HEUG player turnout and pulling/staging the mobs so that the NPCs are only focusing on one or two at a time).

Anyway, this goes on for about an hour or so, we're pretty much beating down the reinforcements as they come up (and they keep coming up, to no end), then I hear the distinct "lots of warps" sound that signals the end of the campaign battle. I look up at my chat log...

The Allied Forces of Altana have retreated...
The Federation of Windurst's Capricornian Casters have retreated from the frontlines of battle.
The Yagudo Theomilitary's Divine Inspirers have returned victorious from the battlefield.

And all I can say is "What. The. #*@&!"

Anyway, there's my spiel.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, forget about Bastok ever taking back any territory; in terms of Bastok vs Quadav match-ups, Grauberg is about as fair as it gets: no shitty BLM units to deal with, no overwhelming melee units, no cheesy AOE petrify, just straight-up melee with RDMs and some imps.

We've been continuously harassing the shit out of the beastmen on Grauberg for four days straight via Allied victories, sabotage, and straight up fort-busting to get maybe a 5% increase on our influence bar.

I take a short break to get some lunch, I come back half an hour later and all of Bastok's influence is gone.

Fuck this shit because it's only going to get worse for Bastok from here on out.
