Few things I don't get.... if the future from whence future Peter came from changes... should not he change/disappear as well? Like how after they stopped the explosion in Season 1 that was the last of that future Peter/Hiro.

Also, if all this level 5 shit comes from Sylar getting Claire's power why doesn't future Peter go back to when Sylar came for Claire's power and kill him then? Along this same line, in Mama Petrelli's dream she sees Claire decapitated which iirc they also brought up as the only way to kill her power in Season 1, so why don't Elle/HRC immediately chop Sylar's head off after she EMPs Primatech Paper? And why didn't Claires parents have her real mom around to help protect her from the start?

I know Hiro explains it in the plot and all about not going into the past, but I think its a cheap cop out when he can just go back 20 min to when he and Ando were tearing up the French Chicks apartment and retrieve the formula sheet? Or go back right after she steals it and tell Hiro whats in it and why he shouldn't open it.

edit: still really liked the episodes, nice to see them giving a fuck about the viewer after Season 2, and some nice action overall, I just don't like how they are playing with time, idk I like the way the writers of Lost seem to be treating it, without a new timeline/future armageddon that Peter Petrelli and Hiro have to save us from every season..

I was on the fence until the end; it's like if Lady Macbeth told Darth Vader she was his mother.

Well you could ask yourself the question of were there other people in the past with the same powers and why could they not stop it? Shit is going to happen in some shape or form but it is whomever job to try to alter it so the world can even live on for one more second. That is what I took from all this change the past but the future is still somewhat set in stone that everyone will die.

I think the general theory is supposed to mimic exactly what happened in the Butterfly effect. If you haven't seen that movie it's about a guy who can concentrate on past memories and "relive" that moment. Each time he recalls some important event and goes back to change it. Each resulting in a MAJOR life change for him. He does this to get his wife (in the original time point, she died iirc) back and with him. Each time results in something terrible happening stopping them from being together. The end result is that he recalls the first time he met his wife at age 4 or something and says something mean to her so she'll never speak to him ever again, figuring that her life will be better if he's not in it. His father had the same power and eventually went nuts trying to fix something with his life as well. This leads to the fact that humans who fuck with time endlessly will most likely go crazy/never be happy because they work on every little detail and depend on this power. Sometimes it's better to go about things differently.

tl:dr - Something is going to fuck up everytime you "redo" time, so in an effort to not make a TV series replicating entirely the Butterfly effect, they limit time travel as much as they can. I agree it does seem kinda silly to not make use of little things like Hiro going 20min back in time and checking the mona lisa, but it also "fits" Hiro's character in that he's a good, honest hero and stands by his resolve of not going into the past.

I get the whole butterfly effect concept, I just don't like the way they are implementing time travel in the plot. In a sense I like that about Hiro's new outlook cause he's gonna try to save the world as things happen, instead of what Peter's doing. The plot just feels a little formulaic to me atm in regards to the arcs of the previous 2 seasons. The action, pacing, villains are definitely amazing but idk some stuff in the story just seems silly to me; like Sylar being Angela Petrelli's son? Seems Nathan got fucked when it came to inheriting powers since both his brothers got such a nice base abilities. Also Sylar and HRG teaming up to fight evil? And Mohinder becoming Spider-man..

I didn't like this at all. Getting too convoluted.

Considering there's about 100 different theories on time travel, the majority of which completely negate any time travel element of a sci-fi show. Usually because any way you look at it you have to deal with the ideas of instantaneous rewrite of history, grandfather paradoxes, the ability to just "go back and stop yourself", alternate timelines, etc, etc.

As such, its a Sci-Fi show ... and I choose to emphasize the "Fi" part where I just enjoy it for what it is. Otherwise time travel episodes of shows or entire movies become irrelevant, when to me they are usually the most entertaining kinds of shows.

If you're a fan of Back to the Future (instantaneous re-write problem) or Terminator (instantaneous rewrite problem) or any of the Star Treks (offended every paradox ever) they all have the same "problem" but most people just ignore it and enjoy whatever the plot ends up being. So in the end, I'm fine with whatever time travel devices the writers use.

Edit: I'd also like to point out that I have a second reason for ignoring it. This is a TV show. TV shows usually have 30 or 60 minutes, minus commercials, to entertain us. Would we be in any way entertained if on every time travel episode they spent 6 hours explaining how the timeline isn't a paradox, or if every episode of House we had to watch every single basic medical test that they tend to skip (as pointed out by a doctor who reviews this, they tend to skip lots of basic tests unless its needed for diagnosis of the final answer), or if in any TV show we had to watch every single restroom break they took, etc, etc. So for those of you bothered by Time Paradoxes, just sit back and enjoy, and remember its just a plot hook, not a graduate level physics course.

I didn't want to be the first one to say that I didn't like it, so I'm glad you were able to man up and say it. I watched the whole thing and over and over again I just went "this is stupid" to a lot of things. It's confusing, and too much is going on in the hour that they have for me to be able to take in anything. I didn't like this season premiere at all really, and I just want Lost to start back up honestly.

I'll definitely give it a few more weeks at the very least, but for how much praise it was getting I felt it fell very short.

Heroes' writters don't seem to know where they want go, or at least, it's the impression they give me.

"Rating are going down, we need to change this"
"We need to add this kind of scenes to please this particular audience"

The only thing I see when I watch Heroes is a bunch of bandaid to fix the story, and it's not working well for me. They need to stick to a single style, to a simple idea that will evolve into something big, instead of just tossing events randomly and hope the viewer find something they want.

And yeah, can't wait for Lost as well.

I thought it was confusing too, but some of the revelations were pretty cool.

I personally can't stand Lost. Its the epitome of "Let's make shit complicated."

Lol, how can you hate Heroes for being complicated, but watch lost. I was done with lost 3 episodes into season 2.

As complicated as it might sound, Lost is very simple.

They spent a complete season opening an hatch, a second one pressing a button, a third one socializing with a few inhabitant and a finally, they took 16 episodes to get on a boat.

It's only complicated when you try to anticipate what is going to happen next.

Because it's not the same kind of "complicated"? Lost follow a simple path with a ton of ramification. Everything has its reason to be, and while some aren't obvious, they eventually play a bigger role

Heroes is complicated, because it was a huge mess, with a ton of weak plot twist (usually weak because character are taking retarded decision for no reason, or because they could use their power to fix it). The show isn't entirely horrible, but unless I shut down my brain before watching it, there is way too many problems for me to enjoy it.

This is the theory i'm going with. It's the only way of explaining how Nikki survived the fire/explosion.

This season is going to be awesome. Complicated is good, it reminds me of how great season 1 was.
