Yeah I figured it was because Claire is his niece but at the same time Sylar and Peters abilities do not have to be used with deadly force, in the house between the two of them they could have telepathically subdued all three of them without anyone getting hurt, I was confused why Sylar did not just pick up the fear dude and fast chick into the air and why Peter did not just yank the gun out of Clairs hand into his own and make her float too.

I got the impression that Sylar didn't want his son to know he had powers. Or, if the son knew he had powers, Sylar didn't like to use them in front of him.

When Sylar was going to paint the future, he told Peter to make sure Noah doesn't see him doing it.

Yeah I understood that part but I would think that at a certain point it would have been more important to save/protect his son.

I finally got around to watching this week's episode, since I missed it last night. That was easily the best episode of the season, and better than probably all of last season.

This show confuses me. I try to get into it, hell I think I've even seen them all and it doesn't make sense at times (perhaps it is made for a different kind of viewer). I know it tries to be like a comic or w/e but I just get the feeling they piled waay too many variables in one show (seems it is going nowhere most of the time). Hell I understand "Lost" more than this.

The problem is, a lot of the content that Heroes depends on for canon comes from the online comics and webisodes... and if you don't follow that you just end up Cloverfielded.

According to the producers, Sylar's powers were wiped when he got the virus. So far all he has in current timelines is the telekinesis, clairevoyancy, and apparently sonic manipulation. This presents a plothole, because in the future he still has all of his powers.

Technically he shouldn't have telekinesis or clairvoyance either, those were gained in S1.

Yeah, but Sylar without telekinesis is not very Sylar. It's not geek answer, it's a "who cares if they didn't insert some line explaining this, Sylar is all about telekinesis" answer. Or, in geek terms, Sylar was so masterful in his telekinesis, he fully understood it even in normal, powerless terms. It's like if you get a gun, a well crafted sword, and a tazer and you practice with the gun and learn the most about the gun while you have it, if you lose them all, you might be able to replicate the gun, but the sword and tazer would probably be completely lost.

By the way: Peter's crappy use of his abilities stems from him not fully understanding them. Unlike Sylar, whose ability helps him understand and perfect his new abilities quickly, Peter attains abilities he doesn't even know he's attained. He can practice some and get good at them, but he's not going to master all the abilities he had. Also, writing in human fallibility and mistakes (even with knowledge of the right answer) is a good thing, in my opinion. Nobody makes the right decision all the time, even with all the right information.

About Future Sylar's power.

I may be stretching it, but one of the reasons he might have those powers is because, by that time line it seems like 90% of the population has powers. So it is likely that within those four years he has killed somebody else that has those powers. After all, we saw several people fly. There might be hundreds with the ability to blow up and so on.

Of course though, as I said I'm just stretching it. Cause that would interfere with him saying he is no longer going after powers because of his son.

Frankly, present peter getting Sylar's ability should be enough to make him much more apt at using his abilities as well as making him more aggressive so he does use them.

It's the future. It hasn't happened yet; it doesn't really matter.

Yes, Ted survived w/out radiation poisoning and Sylar survived in the season 1's 5 years later when he blew up. Its obvious hes still alive just the company doesn't care about him since Peter is more dangerous in the future and the episode focused on him not Sylar.
