Quite frankly, I would have less problem with the show if they simply called their power "magic". Science fiction isn't suposed to take a shit on known science, or at least, what is assumed to be common sense.

Because of this, they are not able to define the nature (limit) of their power cleary, which is going to result in many plotholes (or scenes that you have to accept even if they appear to be contradicting).


Anyway, the biggest issue with this show is how artificial character development is. Everything feel so scripted that it's really hard to believe something like this could happen. Characters are constantly dumbed down (not just their power, but their common sense as well) to make the story go where the writter want it to go.

Yes, exactly. When I first watched the show in the first season everything seemed like it was very cleverly written... until the show got popular. Then they just started catering to fans and changing stories and spiraling the show into powers-powers-powers... Company Man was a great episode and we haven't had a single episode since that was on par with it in terms of character development.

It's what I call the Matrix Effect. Let's create characters so powerful that we can't do anything but weaken them and make everyone else stronger.

Don't forget, going into this fight (that he will probably switch sides on anyway) he still has: Telekinesis, Alchemy (like that'll help), Clairvoyancy, and Sonic Manipulation. Not that it will help any now that Arthur is the new Captain Broken.

But the new Capt Broken isn't gonna be all useless like OP Peter is/was/always will be!

And i agree.. The Company Man episode was amazing... need more like it They would be better off if they just stuck w/their original ideas... I liked S2 of the show, but S3 is almost an entire different world, but last nights episode (minus the inconsistencies) was prolly the best yet.. and it even ended on a cliffhanger (unlike the rest of the season)

What I don't understand is why Adam losing his power would instantly age him a couple hundred years. Okay, so now he doesn't have regeneration... but does that mean his power only suppress death or wounds rather than reverse them? Since Peter lost his power the same way wouldn't his head split open, among other things?

Also never surprises me that Peter would hug someone claiming to be his long-dead father in a room full of known dangerous people. It's not like he lives in a world with people with magical powers or anything.

One last thing:

This has already been covered in this thread (and discussed to death, actually), but the thought is that while old wounds wouldn't come back, age catches up to you rather quickly. Adam suddenly ages to 450ish in a few seconds, and dust results. You don't see the same effect with Peter because he's only had his regenerative ability a year or so, so he would only end up aging that long. Claire (and Sylar now) presumably also wouldn't suffer a similar fate as Adam.

Ages wouldnt catch up if he had the cell of a 30 years old guy. Hell...water wouldnt even evaporate this fast if his cells suddently stop working.

Beside this, it's obvious he died because of the aging.

He didn't have the cells of a thirty-year old guy. He had the cells of a 400-year old guy. He was just regenerating so fast that his body never decomposed and truly died.

You see, when the human body dies... the brain isn't the organ that dies first. The blood cells and body cells themselves send a chemical telling the body "okay time to die and decompose now". The brain, lacking oxygen since the red blood cells have died, dies last. About 5-10 minutes after, the brain is still sending impulses (and usually continues to conduct electricity well after the body is dead).

Anyways, his body was already dead... but since his cells perpetually regenerated his body never broke down and decomposed. He was in a constant state of decomposition and regeneration... an equilibrium if you will. It's almost like someone slicing him with razor blades constantly while he regenerates the cuts. After his power was removed, the cells weren't being replaced anymore by the regeneration, they were just being decomposed. They just accelerated it so that it would look cool on-screen. Same thing with bones. Bones don't really decompose that quickly since they are made almost completely of minerals. They just wanted it to look 'awesome'.

Still a shitty way for him to die. He goes from being the mastermind of a viral outbreak and the true founder of the company to being a sniveling coward at the sight of a bedridden D.E.M... what a waste.

Ugh...and what magical process keep his whole body intact, but doesn't involve cellular regeneration? Cell regenerations can stop, but the current cells shouldn't be destroyed when this regeneration stop. And like I said already, water don't evaporate this fast normally.

I don't really give a shit about the scene from a fantasy standpoint, but at least, don't make it sound like it could be explained with logics or biology.

just think about it, if the damage substained are permanant, Peter would have died from the wound he took. If the only factor in his death was telomerase (cells aging), then he wouldn't die like this.

And where the fuck did all those viral strains go? All season 3's talk about giving powers and how they can't be taken away, and in season 2, the company used one strain to strip Sylar's powers just fine. Was all that just pretend?

I honestly believe that Heroes has gotten too big for Tim Kring and his writing staff. He started out with a set idea and a set story arc, and I don't think he was prepared to keep it going this long. I mean, his only other notable show is Crossing Jordan, and I really don't think his days working on that really prepared him for the undertaking that was keeping Heroes going strong past the first season.
