Same with Adam's rapid aging. The temporal inconsistencies are a bit involved, but one could argue that being a result of a domino effect--smaller inconsistencies start people thinking and picking apart the larger ones.

I mean, there's suspension of disbelief, but sometimes, there's only so much disbelief you can suspend.
Precisely the argument I would use to defend my criticisms. So tired of people going "lolz dun think bout story 2 much". If you're a fan and you've been watching long enough it doesn't require much thought to see a huge inconsistency in a story. Yeesh. I guess if Sylar suddenly married Claire everything wouldn't need thinking right? We'd just have to go "oh well it's just tv haha that's how it goes", right?

God. It's mentalities like that which make shows bad in the first place. TV isn't supposed to require thought, it's supposed to be good. When a show requires you to think too much, it's not a good show. Do the math.

    For any given story setting:

The more consistent the story is, the better.

The more inconsistencies, the worse off the story is going to be.

How hard is that to understand? I can't believe this is even up for debate. What the heck is wrong with (some of) you people?

That really no excuse. its just fucking stupid. Its the same as those retards that complain about FFXI Constantly yet they still fucking play 6/hrs a day. Jesus christ, Theres nothing wrong complaining about inconsistancies but claiming its the worst written show in the world while claiming to be a fan and keep watching is just lol.

People leave the show when it jumps the shark. Like I did in the whole willow/lesbian witch arc on buffy. I'm not claiming its the best written show either. I have some complaints but I would never let get to me like its getting to some people here.

Sure it isn't hard to think about and after every episode that I watch I can usually tell the plot holes at that time or the day after. It just seems like everyone on this board bitches about the show too much, haha.

ITT: People who don't like to have shit they like criticized.

I really don't understand who would get upset about having facts pointed out; that is, that this show has very poor writing and planning. If you like it, then that's fine, but don't tell people to quiet their criticism when it's very well merited.

    You're insane.

Also, unknown information is not the same thing as inconsistency.

I honestly don't care when Kuro points out plot holes because A. he is right B. he isn't combative about it.

Also, don't know where you're going with the unknown information thing either. There are many inconsistencies in the show. Not much left unknown either just silly explanations and attempts to fill in those holes.

For me it's not even the plot holes, it's the way the characters are all acting... Either out of character from what was previously established, or just plain dumb.

You know when you're watching a bad horror movie, and the characters go "golly gee, lets split up and investigate the suspicious scary noises in the darkened corners of this location" and anybody watching wants to throw things at the TV, because nobody can actually be that stupid...? The characters are doing this because the writers can't think of any other way for the monsters to eat them, and that's what Heroes has turned into.

First sign of trouble for a show should be when people compare it as less intellectual than Back to the Future. This is heavy.

I've thought that the show has been good so far... for a TV show. If this was a movie, I would have turned it off halfway through. Really, the only awesome TV shows are on the film channels. Heroes can get cheesy, but isn't it fun having a show that you can look forward to when nothing else is on? I think so.

Bitching? Far from it. I'm a writer. I write songs, poems, short stories, essays... writers know good writing when they see it. They can smell bad writing a mile away (and usually so can most viewers).

Here's an inconsistency, for example, that requires you to be scientifically retarded to ignore in the name of "omg itz just tv lawl".

Daphne is revealed to be crippled without her powers. Why, then, when the Haitian was suppressing her powers, did she not simply fall over when she attempted to run off? The Haitian can switch off powers, can't he?

$100 says the writers will say "The eclipse isn't the same thing as the Haitian's power" when they essentially do the same thing. It's the same inconsistency that doesn't explain why Adam Monroe didn't simply turn to dust when the Haitian caught up with him.

In terms of story, the eclipse taking away powers temporarily simply does not make sense. You'd think once the Heroes all realized their powers were gone, they would know that Arthur can't do anything and they would just walk into Pinehearst guns'a'blazing. But that would be too easy - they have to go retrieve the Haitian, who can shut off powers, but is having a difficult time capturing his brother who is invulnerable to all forms of damage from the outside.

There are quite a few real plotholes in Heroes that are created because of retcon or bad writing, but most of it is inconsistent writing. Shows with inconsistent writing are not good. They may make for good TV (which is why we all admittedly still watch the show) but it doesn't make for a good show.

It's almost like Bleach. There we go. Heroes is slowly becoming like Bleach.

I'm actually hoping that the reason for deterioration is actually linked to the eclipse, but the powers are only on the surface... for instance, powers being external fragments of something that is really preventing some degenerative process or condition that is part of the person's genetic structure.

Here's for trying to get this topic back on track

While Kuronsan is right, the most feasable logic the writers could use/say is "Haitan pauses powers, doesn't allow the user to use it but he doesn't take it away, wheras the eclipse strips powers completely".

Which then again doesn't make sense, Adam would have died a long time ago, as eclipses happen more than once within a few hundred years!

Clearly its special kinds of eclipses.. otherwise Adam would've lost his power at the eclipse that occurred during Hiro's awesome 17th century Japan adventure.

Well that one wouldn't have made much of a difference, as at that point in time Adam didn't even know he had powers.

also it could just be that Adam would just age normally during an eclipse - rather then it all catching up to him.

also, as for the Haitian, I'm not so sure he takes away powers as much as he makes you forget how to use them. In several episodes he supresses or steals or even transfers memories.

That's okay, neither do the writers.

Then the same should have happened when Petrelli took his powers.

This wouldn't explain people who don't have to consciously "use" their power (like Claire). Also, it doesn't seem that people forget how to use their powers when he's around. It seems they're fully aware of how to use them, but it just doesn't work.

It sounds like your assuming that Mr Petrillis power is the same as the eclipse though. I think the eclipse DISABLES their powers (puts them in a benine or dorment state), where as Mr Petrelli completely takes them away.

True. I wish they'd reveal more about how the powers manifest, maybe we would understand more of the plot holes then.

Now that I think about it... maybe the Haitian and eclipse are have the same powers? ...but then the whole daphnie crippled thing. I dunno.

    ...bad wrtiing? <.<

Let's just go back to the basis. The source of their power come from DNA evolution according to Suresh, and a fucking eclipse take them away.

Why aren't they losing them at night, or indoor?
